A short YouTube presentation by Dr. Diane Mueller discussing osteoarthritis and recent evidence linking common environmental chemicals—specifically PFOA and PFAS—to progression of the condition. The video warns these chemicals are widespread (fabrics, grease-proof paper, food containers, and personal care products) and recommends using the Yukka (Yuka) smartphone app to scan product barcodes, which rates products on a 0–100 scale and lists contained chemicals so users can remove products containing these compounds.

Hey everybody. Dr. Diane. Here in this video we're going to talk about osteoarthritis and a couple toxins that are associated with it. So osteoarthritis can be very debilitating of course because of the pain that goes with it and the impact on life. And oftentimes we become more sedentary and that creates further downstream pain and problems. What I want to make you realize, aware of and the reason I have this study up is because I want you to see the names of these chemicals because they're not very easy to say or spell. So these two chemicals that see here, PFOA as well as PFAS are really, really, really common. They're seen in fabrics, they're seen in grease proof paper food containers. So watch out for those as well as personal care products. And they this study is really showing that these are correlated with the progression of osteoarthritis. So we want an easy way of determining if you are using if these types of things are in your products. Get an app on your phone called Yukka Y U K Yucca will do is you can go around to your personal care products and scan the barcode. When you scan the barcode, what will wind up happening is it will rate the product on a scale of 0 to 100, 100 is good, 0 is bad and it will list off the chemicals that are found in that product. So you can be looking in this, you know you still want this, you know your products to get as close to 100 as possible. But you can look at to see if these types of chemicals are there. If you're concerned about osteoarthritis and then start working on eliminating those types of care products from your your line. So I hope this helps.
