Short educational video by Dr. Diane Mueller explaining neuroplasticity and the role of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in growing and maintaining neural networks. The video's central claim is that air pollution and cumulative toxic load can reduce BDNF production and thus impair neuroplasticity; practical recommendations include using high-quality air purifiers (examples: IQAir, Air Doctor), reducing controllable toxic exposures (organic food, limiting toxic beauty/household products, addressing mold/infections), and supporting detox capacity over time. The tone is advisory and preventative.

Hey everybody. Dr. Diane. Here in this video we're going to talk about brain health, neuroplasticity and what you can do. So neuroplasticity is in part regulated by something called brain derived nootropic factor, bdnf. And to make sure you understand what neuroplasticity is, the neuroplasticity is really about your body being able to grow new neural networks, right? So we want to grow new neural networks, we want to make more connections. That's how we learn things, that's how we stay healthy. It's a huge part of health. And BDNF helps to regulate the body's ability to do this. So the point of today's video is to show that air pollution is something that we see that will basically turn down the production of bdnf. And when that happens, that turns down the signal to the nervous system to grow new neural networks. It's not the only thing that does this. But, but we really want to make sure that as much as possible we are cleaning our air. We're using air filters such as the IQ air or the air doctor There's a few other good ones on the market. We want to be using really high quality air purifiers and we want to make sure to do this to keep the air clean as well as making sure that we are using appropriate detox methods. And sometimes appropriate detox methods is just being simply aware of, of toxins. So with toxins it's really about the total toxic load. So for example, if you're eating non organic food, you're breathing in gross things in the air, if you have mold in your house, you have other infections in your body releasing toxins, you're using toxic chemicals, you're using toxic beauty products, all of these things accumulate. So the more you can take down and you can control what you can, obviously we have to be in the world, can't avoid all toxins, nobody can. We can also drive ourselves nuts sometimes trying to try. So the way to really work with this is to say, okay, there's certain things you can control and there's certain things you can't. So let's get the toxic load as low as possible with the things that you can control. So the things that you can't, such as the fact that you sometimes are outside breathing the air, which obviously being outside, especially in nature, has its benefits. And hopefully nature doesn't have as many pollutants as the city and typically it doesn't. But we want to make sure that we're really breathing as much as possible things in that our body has the capacity to detox. And the more that we are choosing good things for the rest of our lives, the more the body has the capacity and ability to detox these things. Get them out. And we want these things out because we want that bdnf. We want to encourage neuroplasticity that is helping with anti aging, helping with cognition, helping with those learn things and so much more. So hopefully this has been helpful. Please subscribe to this channel. I'll see you in the next one.
