Feeling Foggy? Discover the Secret Culprits Behind Brain Fog

Dr. Diane Mueller (chronic disease expert) outlines likely but often-missed causes of brain fog: routine labs may be normal while root causes persist. She highlights nutrient and hormone checks (iron, thyroid, adrenal, sex hormones), hidden environmental toxins (mold mycotoxins, heavy metals, glyphosate), and chronic infections (Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, West Nile), notes blood-flow and inflammation mechanisms, and promotes a follow-up testing video and an upcoming masterclass for deeper guidance.

Hey everybody. Dr. Diane, your chronic disease expert here. We're talking about brain fog this month and all things brain fog. We've covered a lot already today. We're going to cover hidden causes of brain fog. So if you've watched my earlier videos, you've seen the reminders to always work with your doctor to rule out any of the scarier types of things that can be related to brain fog, such as Alzheimer's, such as a tumor. And I say that because it's important to catch that early. I know this is very, very concerning and very anxiety provoking information to hear. I can tell you that most of the time it's not that. But if it is, that we want to know early. So what I see most in people that I work with, with as far as brain fog, and it's been, I feel very sure, well over a thousand people I've seen with brain fog at this point. One of the things I typically see is a lot of the standard labs and a lot of the neurological workup is basically normal. Maybe there's something that's like slightly off, maybe the thyroid is slightly low, for example, but you get on thyroid in that case and the brain fog still there. So what is underlying, what is causing it? So remember, I did talk about certain things that could cause problems, problems as far as mechanisms of where we could get brain fog, such as inflammation and things that would get to the brain that would cause inflammation, such as toxins or infections. I also previously mentioned a lack of blood flow. So let's start with some of the basics that we want to consider as far as what could be causes. And then we'll work up to some of the very common but less talked about. So we want to make sure that we're doing things like getting a, like full iron tests. I've mentioned iron. So we want to look at that. We want to look at thyroid health, we want to look at adrenal health, we want to look for any nutrient deficiencies. Any of those things could be very, very clear, easy explanations for why there's brain fog. But like I said, it's very frequent that people do all of those things and sometimes there's even a slight abnormal abnormality. And then it doesn't fix the brain fog or it fixes the brain fog and then it just comes back. So what's happening in those scenarios? So that takes us to this other layer, right, where we have to consider what else is inflaming the brain. So when I'm talking about toxins, toxins that we really are concerned about are things such as hidden mold toxins, very, very, very common with brain fog, hidden metals, very, very, very common with brain fog. And other types of environmental toxins such as glyphosate, which is the pesticide that is used basically Roundup, right? It's the chemical of Roundup and essentially it's also used. Glyphosates are used in the drying process of wheat. And we do see links in the literature with deaths and brain function abnormalities. So essentially what we want to do is we want to test tests to make sure we are eradicating those things. We also want to make sure that we're considering other causes. So chronic hidden infections such as Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, even things like West Nile I've seen with causing brain fog. So we want to do proper tests for all of those things. In addition to that, we do want to consider the basics of blood sugar. So while most people have had basic blood sugar levels run. Going to tell you in the next video, the video that's coming out next is about testing. So these are the root causes, right? These are the toxins, the inflammatory things, the infections, the basic things such as hormones. The other thing I didn't mention that has to be mentioned here is sex hormones. So testosterone, estrogen, progesterone. Right. So this is why women in menopause oftentimes can be brain foggy. Just as those hormones, hormones are shifting around, we see the hormones actually will change what parts of the brain blood is flowing to. It's that, that potent, right? So when we have these changes in menopause, our brain is re acclimating to blood flowing around in different areas. And that's one of the reasons there can be this menopause type of brain and where if like the thinking is just not as clear during that hormonal transition because the brain has to re acclimate to the new normal. So all of these things are very, very, very, very, very possible with what we're talking about here. So make sure you, you subscribe to the channel so you can get my next video where we're going to talk about testing for all of these different things. Also make sure you go into the show notes and sign up for my masterclass. The masterclass is coming up soon and we are going to go in detail in a deep dive as to what these particular root causes are in a lot more detail, giving you better access to tasks.
