Hey, everybody. Dr. Diane, your Lyme mold and chronic illness expert here today to talk to you about some of the top signs that you have Lyme. So this is really important because so many people are thinking about Lyme disease only in this acute standpoint, and you should be thinking about an acute standpoint. What to know. We're going to talk about acute Lyme versus chronic Lyme and acutely, meaning you just got the disease. You just got this bacteria infection, which is essentially what Lyme disease is. Is. And so when you are acute, typically this can look like a flu. Many people have fever. About a third or so people have that bullseye rash, right? So that target lesion red rash, but that only shows up on a certain percentage of people, and it's actually fairly low. So many people never have this rash. And so the thing is, if you are suffering from a fever, especially if the fever also has other symptoms like joint pain, that can be a big sign that you have acute Lyme. For many people, they do not know they have acute Lyme because it just looks like a fever. And it's treated that way. And it goes away, quote, unquote. Goes away. What happens then? It goes dormant. It goes into remission. People don't have symptoms, but it still is activating the immune system. And so essentially, if it's activating the immune system, then what tends to happen is people wind up then having autoimmune disease. They develop fibromyalgia. They can get headaches or migraines. We see that Lyme disease really, this bacteria really loves to go after our nerves and can actually cause our nerve cells to break down and die. So we see widespread symptoms. We can see numbness and symptoms and tingling. We can see. We can have vertigo. We can have these symptoms of pots where people stand up and they feel dizzy or disoriented or like they're about to faint. Everything gets fuzzy and dark. We can have ear ringing. We can have sinus pain. We can have brain fog. We can have rage and emotions. We get changes, right? We can have insomnia. We can have menstrual disabilities. So we see all of these. If you're listening to this, you're like, wow, Dr. D, this is like so many things, but that's the. One of the things that's one of the keynote things is when you have chronic Lyme, it's not just in one area of the body. So I haven't seen, in almost 15 years of doing this, one case of chronic Lyme where somebody comes in and they only have one symptom where they only have joint pain. For example, most of the time, if they only have joint pain, it's going to be something like arthritis. Now, somebody with Lyme also could have joint pain, but it's going to be joint pain and, and, and, and, and. So that's the biggest thing with this, is that we want to think about Lyme and, and, and meaning all of these other symptoms. So if there's joint pain, there might also be chronic fatigue. There might also be headaches. There might also be brain fog. There might also be, say, calf pain. Right. There also might be exercise intolerance. So it's really when you see this laundry list of symptoms, oh my gosh, I'm just breaking down. So many things are wrong with me. That is a big keynote for Lyme. So I hope this has been helpful.
