Doctor Diane, your Lyme and mold expert May is Lyme disease awareness month. So we're talking today about the top three things that everybody must need to know about Lyme disease today. So number one is it is not as scary as it sounds. And I say that cautiously because I see over and over and over again people read horror stories online and there's actually absolutely horror stories out there. There's really bad stories. And many of the people that I work with have had Lyme disease and symptoms associated with Lyme for years and decades. I certainly did. So you might be thinking like, okay, Dr. D, like, why are you saying it's not as scary as it sounds, that it sounds awful, and it is. But the thing about Lyme disease is that it is reversible. We can get people to the point where they are basically functioning completely normal, like they don't have Lyme, like they never like it happen, all of those sorts of things. So we need to look at it as one of these things that is intense, that is awful, but is fixable. And that's what helps to make it not scary, is it's fixable. So that brings me to number two, the second thing most people need to know about Lyme disease. The second thing is the number one thing that I see that makes it difficult to reverse as well as makes it come back is stress. And stress is super important because stress will actually make these bugs biofilms, the hard outer shells of Lyme that would basically make the biofilm of the Lyme bacteria talk to each other more. And when that happens, when we get bacteria to bacteria communication improvement, then guess what? That actually helps the bacteria which cause Lyme increase, proliferate, multiply, and take over our body more. So we have to become more stress resilient. Which brings me to three. The top third thing that people don't know about Lyme is that so many other disease processes can mimic Lyme and can contribute to the Lyme symptom. So it's really important. The thing I see so frequently is once somebody gets that diagnosis, then every doctor they see just is trying to treat that thing and it becomes this narrow, focused diagnosis where people aren't looking for mold illness, they're not looking for pesticides, they're not looking for metals, they're not looking for gastrointestinal issues. I've never seen one Lyme patient in my almost 15 years of practice. That is just Lyme disease. It's all of these other things. So, so frequently people are not getting better because they haven't found the whole picture, so if this has been helpful, please do subscribe.
