Everybody. Dr. Diane, your Lyme and mold and chronic illness expert here today, talking about mold illness and do I have a mold allergy? This is a really pivotal question to answer because Lyme and mold are similar, because people with mold illness have a lot of other symptoms that go with the mold illness. And mold illness can cause things like fibromyalgia. It can cause things like brain fog, fatigue, headaches, migraines, and so much more. Now, here's the big kicker. So many people will think about mold as an allergy, and they'll go to their doctor, and their doctor will run allergy tests. If you have a mold allergy, the symptoms that you are probably experiencing are things like itchy eyes, runny nose, your classic allergy symptoms. Most of true mold illness is not actually an allergy. It's a toxin buildup. It's when you're around mold and the toxins that the mold secretes. Mold secretes toxins very similar to pains like VOCs. And so when mold secretes these toxins, these voc like chemicals, what winds up happening is these toxins, we breathe them in, they get into our body. This is mold illness. And so what the big thing, the big takeaway here is that there's so many symptoms that mold illness will cause. It will mimic a lot of other diseases like Lyme disease, fibromyalgia, and more. And it is going to show up negative for most people on an allergy test because mold illness is not an allergy. So if you go to the doctor and you say, oh, yeah, I want a mold test, and you get an allergy test and you're fine, that does not mean mold is okay for you. It means the right test has not been done.
