Natural Pathways to Detox Xenobiotics: Safeguarding Our Body's Ecosystem

Dr. Diane Mueller (a clinician focused on Lyme) explains what xenobiotics are — chemicals not normally present in the body — and summarizes their possible health impacts (neurological inflammation, pain, thyroid dysfunction, fungal overgrowth, hormonal imbalances). She recommends baseline and follow-up testing (a "Total Toxin Test" and a PFAS-inclusive panel), emphasizes supporting liver transport/bile (myrrh, choline) before aggressive detox, and suggests adjunctive measures (sauna, lymphatic massage, exercise). The talk cautions against extreme isolationist responses and encourages measured, evidence-driven detoxing with pre/post testing.

Hey everybody, Dr. Diane, your Lyme doc here. And in this video we're talking about xenobiotics. What they are, how to get rid of them. So xenobiotic by definition is a large class. It's a name for a substance that is not supposed to be in our side of our body. So it's a chemical that ends up in our body essentially. And so we all are subject to chemicals and we want to make sure that when we hear this information that we don't decide to do this live in a bubble scenario. It's so easy when we're talking about xenobiotics and some of the things that I'm going to talk about, what they do and what they can do. It's so easy to be like, well, I'm just not gonna go outside. Like, I've seen various things in my life, in my clinical career of people basically doing things like covering the inside of their house with aluminum floor soil, of putting things all around their yard to Prevent things like EMFs, of never leaving the house, of wearing protective hats non stop. And perhaps at a certain point of illness like emfs can definitely impact people. So I'm not arguing that, but what I am suggesting is that we want to make sure that what we're doing is we're healing the body in a way. We're making decisions that help you to live in the world in a healthy way. We. Right. We want to make sure that we are avoiding hiding in the world and we also want to make good decisions. So xenobiotics, these chemicals, they come inside of our body in a form of a variety of things, pesticides and herbicides and all sorts of different plastics, et cetera. They can do a wide variety of things to the body depending upon the chemical. They can cause neurological inflammation, they can cause pain, they can cause things like thyroid dysfunction, they can cause candida and fungus to overgrow, they can cause so many other problems, right? They can cause hormonal imbalances, on and on and on and on. So one of the things that I definitely invite you to do in the beginning of thinking about xenobiotics is get tested. There's information in the show notes below about how to get some of these tests done. I recommend the toxic test, the toxin test, the total toxin test is actually what it's called. Say that again. It's a total toxin test. And I recommend that for people to get a wide, wide, wide picture of all the toxic overload in your body. If you have small amounts of toxins, then typically you don't need to do anything major. Maybe increase sauna in your life, increase things like lymphatic massage, make sure you're moving and exercising. But if you have more than, say, elementary levels, if you have more than say, small levels of chemicals in your body, if you have moderate or high levels, you're definitely going to want to do various detox protocols. So you want to consider, always with detox, you want to consider moving the liver and the bile as one of your first steps. So this is using things like tadka, myrrh, choline. What that does is it allows the liver to kind of open its transport process. And you want to do this because before you do too much detoxing, because the liver detoxes things. But if the transportation of the toxins out of the liver, it's not working, then these toxins can get backed up. So you really want to take care of that transport process. And that's bile, myrrh and choline. So I encourage you to subscribe to this channel if this has been helpful. In the next video, I'm going to talk about pesticides and so we're going to talk about some more of chemicals. But I'm also going to do this in a way that we're going to go through a little bit more the details of the detox process. And the last chemical though before I do that, that I do want to make sure to mention is pfas. Pfas, this is known as the forever chemical. This is a chemical that does not break down in nature, meaning a lot of toxins will eventually degrade. And right now what we're seeing with PFAS research is that it does not degrade, which basically means we are getting higher and higher and higher and higher exposure of this with every year that passes. So you can get a test on my website in the show notes below. And you need to make sure if you want the pfas, you got to particularly do the test that includes pfas. It'll say a total toxin plus PFAS to get that chemical. But the idea of doing a test, you can always do a detox on your own. But the idea of doing a test is pre and post doing a detox to see if it worked, right? To see if it worked. And the reason why a pre test is good is because if we don't have that baseline and you just do a post detox test, you don't know, maybe your levels were actually twice as high. Let's say your post detox test and you're like crap, the detox didn't work. Levels are still really high. Was possible that pre starting that detox, your levels were actually significantly higher and the detox is working wonderfully and you're just not done yet. So I always recommend people when you're doing self testing to be as scientific as possible. Do pre do your protocols do post testing. That way you know if it's working, if it's not working, or if it's working, but you just need more time. I hope this has been helpful. Please do share this with your friends and family.
