Nature's Approach to Metal Detox: Unraveling Safe & Effective Solutions

Dr. Diane Mueller explains detoxifying toxic (harmful) metals, emphasizing that toxic metals heavily involve the liver and kidneys and deplete zinc. She advises monitoring kidney markers (BUN, creatinine), ensuring zinc/mineral support during detox, and prefers oral detox protocols in many cases because IV chelation can strip minerals and require remineralization. She recommends intestinal binders to prevent reabsorption—specifically zeolite, chlorella, and modified citrus pectin—and cautions about sourcing and third-party purity testing (especially for chlorella).

Hey, everybody, Dr. Diane Mueller here to talk to you about detoxing heavy metals. Technically detoxing toxic metals, some heavy metals are actually positive for the body and are things like minerals, so pesticides. We have a video on pesticides, we have a video on xenobiotics and detoxing those things. So definitely go back and watch those. You'll see those on these playlists because those are going to go into some important things about detoxification in general. In addition to what I've said on those other videos, the one thing that makes heavy metals toxic metals, I should say a little bit different, is that toxic metals not only really strongly use the liver to be detox, they also really strongly use the kidney, and they also really strongly use the nutrient zinc. So if we're detoxing toxic metals, we want to make sure that in addition to doing all of the things I've talked about in other videos that we're making sure we have zinc in our protocol because you will burn through your zinc in order to detox toxic metals. And zinc, as we know, is good for so many things. But most people know the immune system, right? So we're already taxing our body and we're already asking our body to do a lot when we detox. We don't want to strip it of this, this nutrient, this mineral that is good for things like supporting our immunity, right? That's not setting us up for success. You want to get zinc on board when you're detoxing heavy metals for sure. You also want to make sure that you're checking things like bun, creatinine, some of your basic kidney markers to make sure your kidneys are healthy, because you will absolute put extra pressure on your kidneys when you are pushing a heavy metal detox. And this is true if you do IV chelation or you do oral detox. A lot of people feel that you need to do IV chelation to get results. I tell you guys, I do pre and post testing oral versions of products all the time, natural versions of products all the time. And I see these numbers go down over and over and over again without having to do the IV. So sometimes there's reason to do IVs, of course, but I see a lot of people tolerate the oral a lot better. The oral versions of doing heavy metal detox don't strip mineral status in the same way that IVs do. So one of the problems with IV chelation and IV heavy metal detox is that you can lower minerals in your body and lead to a Lot of problems that way. So typically with IVs, there's a lot of work on remineralization, which is good, but some people still suffer negative effects from that. And while it's still good to also supplement minerals, when you're doing oral, oral detox for metals, it doesn't seem to be as necessary as certain other things. So it can be a lot more easy, I would say, on the body. Other things to consider, like, you want to do all your basic detox things that I talked about in the pesticide and the xenobiotic youtubes that you'll find on this channel. But you also want to make sure that from a binding perspective, remember, you want to always bind things in the intestinal tract. The binders are things that when the toxins are released from the liver and they make their way into the intestinal tract, they can be reabsorbed easily. So the binders hold them in the intestinal tract. So essentially, you poop them out, you don't reabsorb them super easy. So binders that work well with metals are things like zeolite, chlorella, modified citrus pectin. So these are some of our top heavy metal binders. They're not the only ones, but these are some of the common ones that I use most frequently. Always remember to be careful on where you're sourcing things, right? Always be super, super careful on sourcing. Chlorella in particular is a seaweed. So oftentimes even grown organically, if it's like organically in the sea or organically in nature. Remember, nature has a lot of metals, and this is a very good metal binder. So you want to make sure that you're using companies that are, that are quality purity tested. So if you also go down to the links below where I have my direct to consumer labs, you also see direct to consumer supplements and in some of the detox protocols, I have chlorella that I have vetted as being pure as third party purity tested. So definitely good to source from good places like that because you want to make sure you're not putting in what you're trying to get out. All right, everybody, I hope this has been helpful. Please don't keep me a secret. Please share me with your friends and family and subscribe to this channel so you can stay up to date when I release new educational content. I'll see you next time.
