In this New Year’s video, Dr. Diane Mueller, a Lyme and mold specialist, explains how cultivating gratitude can help people with chronic Lyme and mold illnesses break the negative feedback loop of stress and tissue damage. She describes how gratitude calms the nervous system’s stress response, allowing the body’s natural repair processes to function more effectively. Drawing on her own two‑decade recovery journey, she shares personal anecdotes of using gratitude during the darkest moments of severe pain. Dr. Mueller offers a simple daily practice: identify three things you are grateful for each day, emphasizing that while gratitude is not a cure‑all, it can provide hope, reduce stress, and support ongoing healing. She concludes with wishes for a healthy, abundant new year and a call to subscribe for more supportive content.

Hey everybody, Dr. Diane Mueller, Lyme and mold expert. Happy New Year! Today in this video I am talking about gratitude because one of the things that I find in working with complicated cases of Lyme and mold is it can be really hard some days to find gratitude, right? It can be really hard to get stuck in that vicious cycle of how bad we feel and the The problem is when we get stuck in that cycle, even though it's warranted, right? Even though, like, yes, of course, like, these diseases, they take over your body, your life, your relationships, your how you feel in yourself, your ability to work in many cases. And so because of all of that, it can be very, very difficult to overcome, you know, and it's very difficult to be stuck in the cycle of, wow, everything is really hard. Cycle is that when we're stuck in that, then we're sending out these signals to our body that are saying for tissues to break down and, and whatnot. And we're not sending out the signals that say, hey, rest, repair, like cells turn back on, function normally, it's time to come out and play, right? So it's very, very different that way. So during our New Year's, a great time to practice gratitude and take a moment to really find things. If you can find 3 things today that you're grateful for and really start that gratitude practice, because what gratitude does is it does actually calm the stress response. And when we have that stress response, right, we're, like I said, we're sending out all those signals that are not telling our tissues to be happy, that are not telling ourselves to repair. So we really need to kind of to use our own body's natural healing process And by using gratitude exercises, it can calm down our nervous system a bit and, and help our body to repair more. Of course, this is not the end-all be-all of anything, right? Nothing, nothing is. But the goal here is to try to find these glimpses of hope, these glimpses of normalcy, these glimpses of gratitude, even while times are hard and we're healing. And And one of the things that I really got out of my own Lyme disease treatment and return to wellness was practices like this, was because it really taught me in the hardest and darkest of times when I thought I was dying to find still, still things that I was grateful for. And so it trained my mind during those times. It was like mind training, right, to train my mind so that now that it's been gosh, going on, getting close to 2 decades now since I've been, since I've been recovered. So it's been a long time. I still have all of those practices, all those mind practices in my life that are still providing value because I cultivated them when things were really hard, when I had pain so bad that it felt like my leg was being sawed off. Right. So with that gratitude, just if you can do that and make that a daily practice, I think it's an amazing thing to support your nervous system during this healing time. And hopefully if you're out here struggling with Lyme and mold, that will still help you bring in the new year with this energy and this vibe and this prayer of what is best to come. Because, because what I see in those that have healed, what I've seen in myself, is this newfound goal and this purpose for life, this newfound passion is under— on the other side. There is so much hope out there. There's so much healing out there. The answers are there. And practicing gratitude can just take a little bit of that edge off on some days to help you get there. So happy, happy, happy New Year. I wish you a year of healing, of so much abundance, of so much health, and the best year of your life so far.
