Struggling with Brain Fog? Discover Which Supplements Can Help!

Dr. Diane Mueller recommends omega-3s, vitamin D, B12, choline, ginkgo biloba, and huperzine A for brain fog. She emphasizes testing before supplementing and addressing root causes like toxins or infections rather than just masking symptoms.

Hey, everybody. Dr. Diane, chronic illness expert. And today, as well as this whole month, our topic is brain fog. So today we're going to talk about supplements for brain fog and what to consider in supplements. So I'll start out by saying the Obvious 1 is Omega 3s. The last episode I put out, I did talk about omega 3s. So I'm not going to go through that again. But we have to, when we're talking about supplements, we have to at least mention that one because that is so, so important. A couple vitamins such as vitamin D and vitamin B12 have been shown to be very helpful in brain health. And some of my favorites are a nutrient called choline. Choline is the ingredient, one of the nutrients that's found in high amounts in egg yolks. A lot of people are dramatically deficient in choline because we actually use choline for every cell of our body, not just our brain, but our brain loves choline. Choline has been shown to help with memory, so it's a very, very good nutrient to use. A form of choline called Alpha GPC has particularly been shown to be a good choline for supporting brain health, supporting brain fog, improving memory. We also want to consider the herb ginkgo biloba. So several episodes ago I was talking about how blood flow, or lack thereof, a lack of blood flow to the brain can a cause of brain fog. So one of the things that we see with ginkgo and that's been shown in some of the studies, is that improve circulation and it helps to make the blood vessels less sticky so that we can get more blood flow to the tissues of the brain. We also want to consider a nutrient called huperazine A, that is a very, very well studied nutrient for cognitive function function. It's essentially with trying not to get into the weeds, with explaining this too deeply, but essentially what it's allowing is it's allowing our nerves to communicate better. We use something called acetylcholine and this is getting a little bit heady. So I want to be careful because I want to make sure I'm speaking in a way you all can understand me. But essentially what Huperazine A, this particular nutrient that can be taken, taken as a supplement does, is allowing our nerve conductivity to improve by improving one of the chemical messages, messengers in the brain. When our nerves fire better and our nerves communicate better, that oftentimes improves brain fog. We mentioned a little bit earlier on that toxins, infections can be causes of brain fog. Right. And so essentially we mentioned that when we have certain toxins and infections, they can actually lead to inflammation. So essentially, when we are inflamed, our brain is inflamed. The nerves oftentimes do not communicate. They do not send the signals correctly. That's one of the reasons why we can get brain fog in the sense where somebody's talking to us and it's like really hard to track that conversation. That that can be due to what's happening as far as the nerves not communicating as well. And so you're not tracking the story, you're not tracking the conversation. Maybe you're not remembering the person's name if it's somebody new you met. And so essentially huperazine A has been shown to help with those sorts of things. So again, we want to remember omegas, omega 3s. I would really watch out for not getting the omega 3, 6, 9 or the omega 3.6s you see on the market. You want to get omega 3s, you want to get pure omega 3s. And make sure you join me for my masterclass, my free masterclass that's in the show notes where we're going to talk about this and more because we're going to talk about where to source these things from in a way that you're getting really good purity products. So again, omega 3, vitamin D, B12 should also throw iron in there. Iron's been shown to make a difference for some people. You want to be careful, careful because you don't want to do have iron overload. Iron overload can actually cause problems. It can deposit in the brain and cause the opposite thing of what we're trying to do. So always get your serum iron tested before moving forward with taking iron. And then of course Alpha gpc, that formacholine, heparazine A and ginkgo. And that is a super lovely brain and brain fog cocktail. Now remember, all of these things can be supportive, but innately you still want to get to the root of what's causing this. So coming up soon, we're going to do a talk. One of these YouTube videos is going to be on testing for Brain Fog. So make sure you do subscribe to the channel so you get the next video in the series when it comes out. And please do sign up for my free masterclass. You'll find that in the show notes. That's going to be your opportunity to be able to ask me questions live. So bring your brain questions. I love questions. I hope you'll join me live. Thanks again for being part of this series. I'm Dr. Diane. See you real soon.
