7 Million Cancer Patient Lives Could Be Saved With This One Change

In this video Dr. Dino Prato argues that a large proportion of cancers are driven by modifiable, epigenetic factors rather than genetics alone. Citing a 2026 WHO analysis that 38‑40% of 2022 cancer cases are linked to 30 lifestyle‑related risk factors, he moves beyond the usual focus on smoking, alcohol, and infections to present a comprehensive prevention plan for people who already follow a healthy lifestyle. The core of his strategy is to optimise liver function and detoxification, support the gut microbiome and bile flow, and maintain a Mediterranean‑style diet rich in high‑quality fats, organic fruits and vegetables, and low in refined carbohydrates. He recommends specific liver‑supportive agents (phosphatidylcholine, silymarin, glutathione, cold‑pressed oils), the use of bitters to stimulate bile, and fiber‑rich foods to improve gut health, noting that gut health accounts for roughly 70% of immunity. Dr. Prato also stresses the importance of early cancer detection through multi‑modal screening, imaging, and biopsy, coupled with precision oncology approaches that have helped his patients achieve remission. Throughout, he urges viewers to work with integrative physicians, adopt incremental lifestyle changes, and stay informed about precision testing, positioning these actions as a practical, immediate way to lower cancer, heart disease, and other chronic disease risk.

Why are so many people getting cancer? It's not just genetics, but it's epigenetics. It's things in our environment. It's a combination of knowing how to take care of ourselves. There's a lot of cancers that can be avoided. But what I'm gonna talk about today are those of you who are already taking care of yourself. You're eating healthy, maybe you're exercising, you're already moving in the right direction, and you wanna know, how do I prevent cancer? Because even my neighbor, I'm giving an example story here, developed cancer and they're a triathlete. They don't smoke, they don't drink that much, they eat pretty healthy, they exercise a lot. And I want to remove this fear from you. I wanna show you a plan that you can use immediately to change the game in really the cancer, heart disease, and all these other diseases, because many, many cancers can be avoided when we know this information. I'm Dr. Dino Prato, founder of Invita Medical Centers. For the last 25 years, my team and I have treated thousands of patients, many who failed the top cancer hospitals across the country, and we did it with precision testing, immunotherapy, and advanced interventions that have helped people live a lot longer and go into remission. So I'm sharing real clinical information, things that I think you can put to use right away. Now, before we get started, make sure you're working with a doctor. Now, a major 2026 study from the WHO, World Health Organization, estimated that about 38 to 40% of new cancer cases in 2022 were attributed to 30 modifiable risk factors. I mean, 30 things you could do that would avoid you getting the cancer. Smoking, infection, and alcohol really drove the topic. That was a key thing. And so now you're like, okay, those 3 things I can test for infections. You need to work with a good integrative doctor, obviously. Obviously, hopefully you're not smoking and you don't drink a lot of alcohol, but why are people still getting cancer? We're going to go beyond the World Health Organization. We're going to go into how do we change the game for cancer. So number one, I want you to look at your digestion. A lot of people can have, you know, pain or gas, bloating, but change the gut microbiome, meaning diversity and organic food. We're getting rid of all the refined carbohydrates and sugars. We're going to help with the insulin numbers, but it's not just LP-IR, insulin A1C, hemoglobin, fructosamine that you want to test. Those numbers might be off a little bit and you're wondering, wondering why, because you were okay when you were younger, and now that you're older, you're maybe a little bit overweight, your metabolism has slowed down. Why is that happening? And I'm going to focus this on the liver. The liver is one of the key aspects to integrative naturopathic medicine, functional medicine, that is overlooked. Whenever you have cholesterol numbers that are off, whenever you have clotting numbers that are off, whenever you have hormones that are off, look at the number one filter of the body: the liver. Detoxification of the liver. I mean, that's a general term. So people say, well, I'm going to take the herb silymarin, or I'm going to do some glutathione. Yeah, those are good, we almost need to remodel the liver. There are different types of products, and I don't want to promote one or the other, but products in the phosphatidylcholine family that are very, very high quality that can help remodel the liver. The liver is really important. Having the right oils, fish oils, olive oil, black seed, currant oil, these types of things that are fresh, cold-pressed, they're not rancid, and they can help with the liver. And not in a way where you're just necessarily fasting and juicing, but I'm talking about changing the cell membrane. If you look at a global analysis this, people will focus on smoking because you can get rid of 15% of cancers with smoking. 3.3 million people can prevent cancer right there. Lung cancer, bladder, throat, esophageal, pancreatic, kidney, and more linked to smoking, vaping nicotine, using cigars, or taking in secondhand smoke. That's easy. That's low-hanging fruit. That's where everybody's focused. I'm assuming you're already doing that. And here's the truth. That's only part of the story. We gotta stop poisoning ourselves and change our cell membranes. We need to give our body the fuel. We need our livers to work well, our digestion to work well. If those things are happening and we're eating clean foods, a Mediterranean diet with diversity of fruits and vegetables that are organic, lots of high-quality oils. We're stopping the inflammation, we're cleaning the liver. Maybe you can do a bitters, which there are a number of them you can get, 15 minutes before you eat. So you start moving that bile. The bile is so powerful. The bile grabs material from your gut and moves it out. It moves toxins out. And we underestimate the power of bile. No one talks about the bile unless you have gallbladder problems or bile sludge. But get your bile moving, get it flushing, get that digestive tract in control. That alone will help you clean the filter. Think of it like a car that needs to change its oil and change its filter. We all need to do that. Some people in their 30s, the sooner you do it the better, but 30s, 40s, particularly in your 50s, this is going to play a huge role in your metabolic health. You're eating more vegetables and some fruit, and you're eating grass-fed beef, and you're eating wild-caught fish and all these great foods, but the liver itself needs support. That bile needs to flush out and pull all those toxins out and all that gunk that's been in there and then help to get rid of the oxidative stress that's in the tissue, the hormone dysfunctions, the inflammation, and all this toxic exposures that are in our body that we need to get rid of. And when we do that, you'll see all the cancer risks go down. You need to clean that liver and clean that digestive tract, improve that gut microbiome, and now you're in a new place. You've tested and cleaned the infections. You don't smoke. You've cleaned the liver, reduced the inflammation. And guess what happens when you correct the liver? Cholesterol numbers improve. Clotting numbers improve, inflammatory numbers improve because our liver can regenerate itself. It has the ability to heal itself. And the key to that is us giving it what it needs to heal. Now, I'm not going to go through a liver protocol here, but that's something that's overlooked in the prevention of cancer and chronic diseases is that connection between the liver, digestive tract, the biliary system. That is where we want to focus because that impacts immunity, because gut health is 70% of your immune system. Those toxins are being flushed through and you need to pull those out. So yeah, things like fibers become hugely important. For those that you can digest, and getting the body to move correctly is going to make a huge difference in that area. So see, these numbers that you hear— no alcohol, no smoking, test for infections— that's going to do a lot. That's the average population. Then I like early cancer detection. So multi-early cancer detection tests, you get those first signals and fix them. If you have a signal, you go to imaging, and if you see imaging, there's something there, you biopsy it. Don't be scared of the biopsy if it's done correctly. I've done a whole video on that, you can watch that. You're not going to get a spread, but it's going to tell us, okay, this is cancerous, and now we remove it. It's gone because it's early detection, but we want to change the signals of insulin, of inflammation, and of toxicity in the body. Those are the things that are going to drive a healthier person up our vitamin D, our zinc, our glutathione, our beta glucans from key mushrooms. We're eating good healthy fats combined with good meals and we're moving and we're cleaning the liver and we're detoxifying the body. This changes the game for the prevention of cancer. We can keep our muscle on with good healthy proteins, better sleep at night for immunity, obviously less refined carbohydrates and sugars. All those Those things are great. And when we do that, we change the game on cancer. I think when you do that early detection testing that I've mentioned before, you can watch my other videos on that, and/or you follow the Mediterranean or another diet, other diets that have this beautiful color of vegetables and fruits that are good for the gut lining and gut microbiome, fermented foods, and you clean the liver and you do this, you'll see that in a few months, transformation in your health and your prevention for cancer will go way up. I hope you found this episode helpful. Now, if you wanna ask me, hey, Dr. Prato, what should I be doing exactly for the liver? There are so many great things you can do. Start with little things and build on those. That's going to help you. Your gut and gastrointestinal lining will improve. Start with little things— getting those healthy oils and fats in the diet, getting that liver moving, bitters, all of those things. Very good. Acetylcholine— there's a lot of great things. Silymarin, glutathione, all great for the liver. And build those into your protocol. See what works for you and makes you feel better. I hope you found this episode helpful.
