In this short excerpt from Dr. Jameca Cooper’s YouTube video, Speaker A makes a disparaging joke that labels Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage,” implying it is a worthless place. Speaker B immediately calls out the remark, describing it as a concealed racist and discriminatory view hidden within comedy. B notes that the audience appeared to accept the joke without objection, highlighting how such hateful attitudes can be normalized in public settings, especially within political rally contexts. The segment serves as a commentary on the intersection of comedy, racism, and audience complicity, urging viewers to recognize and challenge such harmful narratives.
