This is the White Coat Investor podcast where we help those who wear the white coat get a fair shake on Wall Street. We've been helping doctors and other high income professionals stop doing dumb things with their money since 2011. Here's your host, Dr. Jim Dahli.
Welcome back everybody to the podcast. I bet you weren't expecting this to pop up in your podcast feed on a Monday, but this is actually a really short bonus podcast, if you will. I mostly wanted to let everybody know about a special promotion we're offering this week on the video version of the WCI conference. This is WC icon 18 or the physician Wellness and Financial Literacy Conference that we held at Park City back in March. We have finally gotten around to getting all of the videos and the audio and the slides compiled together for this conference and it's really turned into a very nice looking production. We've decided to make it an online course, if you will, similar to the fire your financial advisor course, so you can find it in the same place as fire your financial advisor. Now there's links all over the website, but you can go directly to whitecoatinvestor.teachable.com courses and see it there. And for the next seven days we're selling it for 33% off. That's $100 off the regular price. So the regular price is $299 for this week only. You can get it for $199. Now that's a heck of a lot cheaper than going to the conference yourself. You don't have to buy any airline ticket, you don't have to buy any hotel room. You don't have to pay the conference fee, which was what? $650 was the early bird price that everybody paid because everybody signed up as an early bird. So it's way cheaper. You can watch it on your own time from the convenience of your own home, from any device you please. You can even download it onto the teachable app on your phone. And even without Internet coverage, you can listen to it in your car like a podcast on your way to work. So there's lots of different ways you can listen to it. The videos are great, they include the slides and you get to see all the stuff that you missed out on. I really kind of feel bad because a lot of people wanted to come to this conference and weren't able to. We had no idea when we first put it on how many people we'd get. We carefully calculated out how many people we had to get in order to break even. And obviously we were pleasantly surprised when we ended up filling the whole 300 person conference room in just six days. But this is your chance to attend the conference even though you weren't able to get there. I don't know if we're ever going to do this again, but this was really a special experience and I think by being able to watch the lectures and see those slides that you'll get a sense for just how crazy it was to be able to do something like this for physician financial literacy. Now, although the conference itself offered continuing medical education credit and dental continuing education credit, we can't do that through the online course. It just became cost prohibitive and too much hassle. So you don't get CME for it it, but you still get all the same great information and you can watch it on your own timetable. You can take as long as you want to watch it from the convenience of your own home. Now we are also offering, just like we did with fire your financial advisor, we are offering a money back guarantee. You got seven days to report to return it if you don't want it. If you're like, this is not what I thought it was going to be, this isn't worth my time and money, then within seven days and you can just email katiewhitecoatinvestor.com and she'll get you 100% of your money back. The only caveat we're implementing with this course is if you've watched more than 25% of it, we're not giving you money back. I think within the first three hours of it, you ought to be able to figure out whether this is going to be worthwhile to you or not. But as long as you've watched less than 25% of it and you email us within seven days, 100% money back. So the lectures, if you weren't familiar with what the itinerary there was, we've got a ton of great lectures in it. The first one was mine where I talked about the state of physician financial literacy. Then Mike Piper talked about Social Security, all the intricate things that you need to know about Social Security, not only when to claim it if you're getting close to that age, but also what the survivorship benefits are and what the disability benefits are. Then we had a lecture from Sarah Catherine Gutierrez, a CFP who talked about early career financial issues and interacting with a financial advisor. The next lecture was from Nisha Mehta, who runs the Physician side gigs Facebook group. She talked about physician burnout being a new kind of medical epidemic. Larry Keller talked to us about how insurance can protect a physician's ability to care for their patients. And then we were honored to have William Bernstein come out from Oregon to talk at the conference. And he talked about how physicians fail at investing. You definitely don't want to miss that one. The next day we had Decreasing physician tax burdens and structuring your practice properly again by Mike Piper. That actually turned out to be the most popular presentation of the entire conference. People really loved that one. Bonnie Koo talked about balancing work, family and finances. You may know Bonnie from Miss Bonnie M. I had another lecture called how physicians and patients will pay for health care and other expenses now and in retirement. That one talked a lot about retirement accounts and how to navigate the various retirement accounts and help them to minimize your tax burden and maximize their benefits for you. Nisha Mehta did another lecture on physician wellness titled our self care and work life balance feasible. And then we had another one of our most popular presentations from Jonathan Clements, how to think about money as a physician. And if you've never had these opportunity to listen to Jonathan Clemons speak, he is just as good at speaking as he is at writing. And so this lecture was a lot about the topics that he wrote about in his book how to think about Money, but it was particularly excellent and his accent adds a lot to it. Our final lecture was from the physician on Fire who talked about financial independence, overcoming the obstacles, create the life and practice you desire. And so that was an opportunity really for him to really get to know people on a personal basis. He'd been blogging anonymously up until he showed up at the conference for the Physician Wellness and Financial Literacy Conference. So you can actually get to know Physician on Fire and hear his story and what he thinks about financial independence for physicians. But wait, there's more. We've got another hour we're going to include in this online course. We had a blogger panel one afternoon where we had, I think it was six bloggers, mostly physician financial bloggers, who got up there and answered questions from the audience. And so we also include that and you can watch that and get to know some of your favorite online personalities across the physician finance blogosphere. But this whole package is 199. You can get it again at whitecoatinvestor.teachable.com courses or follow the links on the website. Up until Sunday night it's going to be $199. After that it will go to the regular price of $299. But this is your chance. Don't miss out. Thanks for your attention, and I'll see you on Thursday with the regular podcast.
