2022 BMW R nineT Option 719 - Akrapovič Muffler Surprise(!)

Chris Stout gets a new 2022 BMW R nineT and tries to remove the stock muffler baffles to make it louder. The outer bolts come off with a Torx T27, but the internal baffles are spot-welded to the pipe, unlike older models. He can't separate them without a soldering gun.

Foreign. Hi everybody. Chris Stout here looking at my 2022 BMW R ninet option 719. Just got it. It's got maybe 50 miles, 60 miles I'm guessing from getting it a couple days ago and got some parts ordered, gonna be doing some customizations and I'll be keeping track of those on this channel. So feel free to shop around and take a look and see what's what. We've got a lot of plans for it to start off with though one of the easiest ones is actually not adding a part, but taking off a part. So in these, the stock mufflers don't sound too bad. I'll start it up in just a second so you can get a pre and post of it. But basically there's silencers inside here and you can very easily with a Torx wrench. There it is. A T27 just on a regular ratchet will go in here and we can take those off being very careful to not have them fall down inside. So I'm going to start it up so we can get a pre test before we take them out and then a post test and see what the sound difference is. We can also check what this mileage is. It is. 82 miles. And here we go. Sorry about that. When I come back I'll be taking off some of the nuts and show you how that works. Stay tuned. So here's a little mid course. I've already taken off two of the bolts here. Got a little Craftsman kit that has the Torx and a regular Craftsman kit for the sockets. Once you. The only thing you missed while I was doing this was once you just there, you know, you pop them. They're a little tight from the factory but then it just takes a easy hand unscrew for those and hopefully won't drop one down inside there. Otherwise this video will become a comedic tick tock. Whoops. So I'm going to stop the videoing so I don't accidentally drop one down there. And we'll be right back to show you what that silencer sounds like or looks like. So good news is I got all the bolts out and did not drop any down in there. This is just the little outer collar ring and then this is the piece. Oh my goodness. They have spot welded this in. Oh, that is different. That is not what earlier models offer. So I'm gonna have to take a look at this. We'll be back. So I tried just doing a little tapping with it and couldn't get those off. Didn't want to damage anything. And I, I don't have a soldering gun anymore, so I can't really heat up these little. They look, they look more like solder than they look like welds. And guess unless I can get my hands on a soldering gun and try and loosen those up. This piece, if you've seen other videos on earlier model R90s tees, this is just a piece that is held in by this plate and in this case it's there. But this piece is now soldered in. So they've kind of defeated the ability to take that off. So hopefully I might have another solution to it. I really don't want to get new pipes for this, but I do prefer to have a little louder tone to writing. So anyway, I guess that'll be the headline of this video that 2022 at least are not able to do that. Simple, easy, simple tool. And no parts need to be able to change that out. So stay tuned. Hopefully we'll have better success with some of our other activities that just stay tuned to this channel and I'll put any, any products that I get, I'll put down in the the notes as well. So hopefully you enjoyed this. I am looking forward to getting to enjoy this a little bit more and talk to you soon. Bye.
