Beginner’s Guide to Racing - Fitness & Hammer Nutrition

In this video, Chris Stout, a motorsport athlete and Hammer Nutrition ambassador for 2024, unboxes his Hammer Nutrition ambassador kit and reviews the products he uses for endurance training and upcoming racing events. He explains his personal nutrition strategy, highlighting his vegan soy protein recovery shake (24 g protein per serving with micronutrients), Endurolite Fizz (pre‑race electrolyte drink), Heat (in‑race carbohydrate‑electrolyte drink), anti‑fatigue caps, Race Cap Supreme, and espresso gels, describing how and when he consumes each during long drives, ultra‑runs, cycling, and rallies. Stout outlines his training routine—hill repeats with a weighted ruck, kettlebell work, weightlifting, core/body‑weight exercises, and gravel biking—showing how the nutrition products support his regimen. He previews his 2024 racing schedule (Arkansas Mile land‑speed race in May, a Virginia rally in October, and Road America in Wisconsin) and how he will distribute Hammer swag at these events. The video also showcases the kit’s apparel (technical shirts, jersey, bib shorts), accessories (drink cozies, stickers, literature), and his appreciation for Hammer’s personalized note. Throughout, Stout emphasizes product performance, personal preferences (e.g., lemon‑lime Heat flavor), and the synergy between his training, nutrition, and motorsport goals.

Foreign. Welcome back. Chris Stout here. This is going to be a little bit of a different video for me. This is still part of the Motorsport series which I'm happy to be a Hammer ambassador for that for 2024. So we're going to be talking about all things Hammer and sports nutrition as well as unboxing of my Ambassador kit which I'm very tickled to get into. I thought I might start off though. It's seeming to be kind of a standard for me now of kind of stepping through what it is that I'm doing and why it is that I'm doing it. So with Hammer nutrition I've ordered soy protein. I'm vegan and find the soy protein is really pretty terrific. I use it for recovery. It's also nice. It's 24 grams of protein plus a variety of other micronutrients so that's cool. We'll take a look at that tub which I presume is in the box. Also Endurolite Fizz. I take about 1 to 2 of those with 4 to 8 ounces of water pre race just in a water bottle. Very nice and kind of kind of like the fizz heed. I'm a big fan of heat. It's not going to be in this kit because I still have some from my last but all the endurance stuff that I've done, ultra runs, ultra cycling, climbing etc hiking and stuff. Heat is really kind of my go to so for me I use it during and then as need be when I'm in the process of it just before I start something and then I actually increase the amount more so than what they say. I don't even know what it is that they say but I add a little bit more because I just really do like the the flavor like the taste and I'm kind of conditioned to it. I've used it for so many years. Again it's really kind of my go to. I love the lemon lime, it's my favorite and it just kind of gets me in the right headspace for whatever it is. I'm going to be undertaking anti fatigue. I'm going to be experimenting with those on this in the Motorsport series because I am going to be doing some long drives 11 hours to to the land speed racing at the Arkansas Mile in May and then also going to be doing a rally out to Virginia in October so and Road America which isn't terribly far but a couple hours so I'll be using those to make sure that I'm on my game with that. If I don't get properly caffeinated. And then Race Cap supreme and Endura lights, which also I am a big fan of if I'm getting that square and the thing. Oh, and also the gel, big fan of the espresso gel. And I use it in these containers which is really nice and a little bit more environmentally friendly. So the gels I usually do just before and certainly during it when I mix the heat, usually in a water bladder like this. It's also nice because I can, if it's in a backpack, if I'm doing something with a backpack or on a run with a little vest, I can just, you know, sip from there without having to futz with a water bottle. It will also come in handy because if I have this in the cabin of my C8, then I sip through my helmet and not have to take that off because I'll have a shoulder harness and things like that. So that's really terrific. Also for my training with this, I probably won't have videos on it. But just to be complete, I do a variety of different kinds of things. I run, I do hill repeats near where I live, lift weights, fan, big fan of kettlebells. A lot of cycling that we can do around here, gravel biking in our state parks. Love, hate relationship with Tony Horton and P90, then Chris Herrera, if I'm pronouncing that right, as a new guy that I've gotten into with body weight exercises, in particular core strength and then also with my hill repeats, I'll do with a 40 pound ruck up and down and all around with that. So without further ado, let's take a look at the unboxing and what we've got. So what I did, I made an order. There's the. Their order slip. So I ordered the anti fatigue caps, the race cap supreme, the Endura lights Fizz lemon and the soy vanilla. So those are the things that I have ordered in this order. Probably also going to go for the vegan bars, but they were out of stock so that'll be another one. And then when I run out of heed, I will be reordering that. So it looks like we'll see. I've got a variety of tattoos, hammer tattoos and duralite samples. Just a cool variety pack of all these things. So I'm tickled to see that this is very interesting material for packing. That's great. And it certainly looks recyclable. Just get it out of the way here. Oh, I got a. Got a note. That's nice. Looks like Some stickers associated with that. I'll probably have to stop and read my note and then get back to you guys with what it says. So this looks like a variety of Hammer stickers. This looks like a kit, some kind of outfit maybe for when I'm training with cycling. Clothing items. A nice kit of enduro lights. I also should say too, I put these out. I'm a big fan also of Hammer's literature. Over the years with my climbs, with my races, with ultras, with cycling and everything, I have found this material. This is all stuff I've used and saved over the years. Just inspirational, but also just super helpful to see what other people are doing and to see how other people manage their nutrition pre, during and post racing. Oh, this is great. Great kit. I may not be handing out many of these. I may be using a lot of that Heat Recover light. Recover light 2.0. Just more flavors. Ah, nice. So water bottles, I guess I should be showing them here. And another water bottle. So if you come to any of these events, you'll be up and have the opportunity to get some of these. I'll be giving these away. I'll be. First one will be in May at Arkansas Mile Land Speed Racing. And the next one, public, mostly public, will be Ultimate Streetcar Challenge at Road America in Wisconsin. Here's my recovery soy protein. Let's just take a quick look at the nutritional facts on that too. So yeah, we've got iron, magnesium, a little bit of magnesium, phosphorus and zinc. So all of those are just also kind of added benefits. And I just love the fact that one scoop, one serving is 23 grams. I always look for that. I feel like it's a really good value of being able to get 24 servings at that level of protein. Not everybody does that. Great little packet of various endurolite fizzes. There's my anti fatigue caps and race cap supreme and my other Endura Lite fizzes. Sorry if I'm making folks dizzy with my camera work here. And then looks like maybe these are some of the tattoos and I'm not sure what this is. Maybe socks. I'll open these up and come back on in just a minute. Oh, excellent. And then some of their literature material. So it looks like I've got copies of their Five Secrets to Success. I've got the older version here and I think even a printout there. So that is awesome. And I've got their latest Endurance news, which are just terrific. And their 2024 catalogs. So I'll be handing These out as well at the events. So I'm going to open up some of these and then be right back and show you what's what. Well, we're back and I have to say wow. Thank you, Hammer Nutrition. This is just really terrific. Some of these things, obviously the clothes I'll be able to keep but I am looking forward to giving away a lot of this swag for folks that come up at the events. I will be having a racing suit on, but pre and post I'll be able to represent with this lovely Hammer Nutrition T shirt. Also got a little thing there on the sleeve, short sleeve there. And also this great technical Hammer. I'll certainly be able to be spotted in this as well. Running and whatnot in training. Long sleeve T shirt which is terrific. It's March right now, so this would be a perfect transition shirt. A great number of stickers. A couple of these are going to be on the sides of my car with the other livery during the races. So be keep an eye out for that. A very nice, thoughtful note. I really appreciate the folks at Hammer taking the time to personalize it and really make things meaningful. That that means a lot to me. So we got water bottles and what I thought was socks, sorry are actually drink cozies so that's nice. We can give those away again or I, I might have to just sneak a couple of those for myself. And also very, very cool with cycling. I got a wonderful Hammer jersey. This is just awesome. I really like the design. The little muted design with their logo and the Hammer as you can see. And again I think it'll go very nicely. I have a carbon fiber bike so, so this will specialize so it'll go very nicely with the colors of that. So thanks Hammer. This is just, just super. Here's the back. You got to see that. So that is awesome. I have a double of a time finding really decent jerseys for some reason. But this is great. Looks like this is reflective so zipper side. Just great features. Thank you guys. Can't wait to get on the road and get that on. And then finally also a bib short setup that will go wonderfully with that jersey. So I just love these. I used to race criterions and whatnot back in the day in Indiana when I was younger. Did a lot of cycling back then and this will make things just all the more comfortable and fun. So gosh, again just great appreciation, great gratitude. It's an honor to be a Hammer Nutrition ambassador. Looking forward to this racing season and what comes of it. And also it's just even the training is going to be all that much easier thanks to everybody, the great folks at Hammer. So thanks so much. Hammer on. And I am just so anxious and thrilled to be able to have all this stuff. So please reach out if you have any questions. I'll put links of how to get to Hammer in the notes below. And drive safe, train safe, and see you on the track.
