Coming June 1st: The Unforgettable Lorraine K. Lee on How to Become the CEO of Your Own Career

Lorraine K. Lee breaks down humble bragging on LinkedIn: the disguised self-promotion that tries to look modest but fools almost no one. The conversation explores how to talk about your wins without the fake humility.
Talk about the humble brag, what that is if people don't recognize that that term and ways to avoid it.
Humble brag. So LinkedIn gets a bad rap sometimes about how everyone's sort of bragging about themselves. But basically humble bragging is like you're bragging, but trying to not make it seem like a brag. But everyone can kind of see through it, I
think. Right.
And that's what people sometimes say. You know, LinkedIn can be cringy because everyone's just bragging about themselves nonstop. Right, Right. So, yes, there's a few ways that you can adjust your phrasing and also at the same time help others learn more about you and help people connect with you. So we see a lot of posts. I'm excited to announce, I'm excited to share and how we can change that. So let's say I'm excited to announce I have a new job at this company. Well, instead of just talking about the fact that you're excited, share a little bit more. Like, what was the journey to get that job? How did you get in this industry? What are you most excited to be doing in this new role? Right. Like, are you managing for the first time? Like, that's a very cool thing, I think, to call out and people learn a little bit more about you. Or I'm excited to speak at this event. Okay, well, what is the topic? Like, why are you passionate about this topic? You know, I've been studying this topic for, for 10 years and now I'm really excited to take the stage and share my insights on X, Y and Z with this amazing audience. And so, again, like, it's, it's a little bit more storytelling that you're inserting and a little bit more of a personal touch. And personal. Just more information about you that allows someone to, yes, be excited for you, but also connect and learn a little bit about you at the same time.
