Dr. Bear explains which facial features are normal and which need a doctor. Mild asymmetry and forehead lines are fine. Sudden one-sided drooping (Bell's palsy) is not and needs immediate care. Under-eye hollowness can come from age, poor sleep, or genetics, so try lifestyle changes first.
Dr. Bear, normal or not normal?
Mild facial asymmetry?
Totally normal.
Sudden facial droopage on one side?
Not normal. It's called Bell's palsy. That's not normal. If you do have that happen, make sure you go see a doctor.
Forehead lines when expressive? Normal. Swelling or bruising after injectables?
Depends, uh, can be normal with certain injections.
Under-eye hollowness with age?
Hmm, partially normal. So a tiny little bit of hollowness, little dark circles, it can be normal for some people, but for some people it might be just sign of poor sleep and you could have some mineral deficiencies, vitamin deficiencies. So, you know, unless you're from a certain area where that's just genetic traits, which I've seen in like Sicily, but other than that, you know, you should probably get checked out for some things or make sure you're getting good sleep and you're taking care of yourself because a lot of that is lifestyle related. Yeah, can we do filler and all that other stuff to beef up the area? Yes, we can, but ultimately the best thing to do is kind of like lifestyle alterations to improve that.
