Two people rate popular sleep hacks. Magnesium gets a 10 for fixing a common deficiency without risk. A cold room at 60-68°F rates 8. Melatonin is just a 6 for short-term use only. Phone use before bed gets a negative 7 because of blue light.
Hey, Dr.
Barry. Ew.
We're ranking sleeping hacks. Melatonin, 1 out of 10, 10 being the best, 1 being the worst.
Okay, give it like a 6. It's good temporarily, but you don't want to use it long-term.
Magnesium.
Uh, 10. That's something that we're all deficient of, and if you get more of it, you'll sleep better, and you can't overdose, you can't get addicted to it.
A cold room.
8. Very important to get into deep sleep. 60 to 68 degrees.
Weighted blankets.
I give it a 4. It works for some people, some people don't need it, and it can make you hot, which can interfere with sleep. Reading before bed. Reading a book is at like 7 or 8 out of 10. On your phone is actually like a negative 7. You don't want that blue light from your phone.
Blue light glasses.
I would give it 8 out of 10 if you do have to do work prior to bed. Your body responds to blue light. If you have blue light before your bed, you will not release melatonin, you will not get deep sleep, you will suffer.
