So you just had augmentation surgery and they're sitting up way too high. Guess what? That's normal. Your results typically take a little bit of time for them to drop and flop. That's the term we call from when the initial result transforms into kind of the final result, and that typically happens in my hands around 6 to 9 weeks. Why that is, is because if you add volume to your chest area, you're going to see that it's going to expand and it's going to be tight. The skin doesn't relax right away, and in fact, it needs time for it to grow. Not only that, but the muscle and the tissue underneath needs time to expand. So until that happens, it's up high, it's kind of scary. They look like aliens. So on all my patients, I give them a video and I tell them, I'm like, look, please know this starts out way looking like aliens. Don't worry, it's normal. And then they drop and fluff. Although aliens might be a real thing. Dropping— they'll actually drop a bit because it won't be up as high, and then they fluff. The skin and the muscle relaxes, the cells divide. You actually get more cells because it responds to stress. Same as if you were pregnant and you had to breastfeed. That is the phenomenon of dropping and fluffing. If you are early on in your experience, don't worry too much. But if it's been a year and you still feel like they're too high and they haven't settled down, that could be a problem.
