An entrepreneur who declared his birthday wish to shift from doing to being got hit with reality: a severe shoulder dislocation and labrum tear while riding a new e-bike on Venice Boardwalk. His HRV crashed from 170 to 30, and he's now fundraising with one arm, though his coach reframes the injury as a physical metaphor for his internal conflict.

I had sunk all my money in and was struggling raising a big enough check, and it was on my birthday, and I declared in front of all my community and friends to step into less doing, more being. Common statement echoed amongst entrepreneurs approaching burnout. And I got gifted from all my friends this Super 73 electronic bike. It's like Burning Man bike that I wanted badly. And I take said bike for its first spin on the Venice Boardwalk, my backyard. The sun is setting, like, oh, everything's gonna work out. The money always comes in. Just trust. And I get in the silliest accident that anteriorly dislocates my right shoulder, tears my labrum, and fractures 30% of my shoulder socket off. I had to rush to the ER for them to dislocate, to relocate it. Woke up the next morning, excruciating pain, but my mind was like, how is this happening? Why is this happening? How can I raise money without a right shoulder? 9 years, all the stories. And to no surprise, my HRV was 30, which is a stark contrast from my 170 baseline. My body's screaming at me, it's not happy. Thankfully, I had a call with my coach that day, and I tell him the story and he breaks out laughing. Heck, it's funny because I'm just furious. And he goes, let's break down the body spiritually. The arms represent the doing, the torso, the body represents the being, the shoulder connects the doing to the being.
