Hi, I'm Lauren at Dr. Katie To's center for Wellness Dentistry. Here are the answers to some of our most common questions about scheduling a new patient visit.
Our new patient visits are a two hour appointment. That appointment begins with an office tour. We want you to be comfortable in your surroundings and know where everything is located. Then our certified biological dental assistant will take you to your wellness suite and that's where we'll begin the diagnostic process. These diagnostics a full mouth series of digital X rays. We're also going to check some baseline measurements for your blood pressure, your nitric oxide and your PH levels. Then our team is going to take a sample of your saliva and look at it under a phase contrast microscope. They will share what they see with you so you can know where you stand with the period levels and types that are going on in your mouth. We're also going to take a full series of intraoral records for photos. These photos are going to give us a bird's eye view of everything going on. Once all the diagnostics are taken, our team are going to meet with one of our wellness dentists to review all of their findings. Once the review is complete, the wellness dentist and our team will join you back in the wellness suite. At that time, they're going to get to know you, what your goals are and where you want to go in your wellness journey. That's when the exam will begin. And so at that point, the doctor is going to lay you back. They're going to take a look at absolutely everything and that's going to include what going to you're, your airway, your sinuses, your posture, tongue tie, caries, risk assessment, bite risk assessment, gum risk assessment, your MJ and so much more. They're going to take a really full in depth look at you, not just what's going on with your teeth. Then once they have all of that information compiled, they'll sit you back up and explain everything in terms that are less technical so that you fully understand everything that's going on with you. And once all of that is done and you completely understand where you are in your oral health, we're going to come up with a game plan to help you meet your goals. And this game plan is going to be completely customized to you.
Now that you have your game plan together, one of our business team members is going to go over all the information with you, present all the treatment plans and you'll know what is next in your list of priorities. We'll also go over the cost of each visit, how Long each visit will be and answer any of your questions as well. In order to make a reservation at our office, we we will need a deposit towards your visit. Our business team is great in helping to fit this into your life. We want to make sure that you are on track on your wellness journey.
We get this question a lot. Second opinions happen because maybe you didn't totally trust the information you heard or maybe it sounded really large and scary and you want to confirm if that is accurate and true before you move forward. And we totally understand that. And what I want you to know about Wellness Dentistry is that we never just look at one area. We're always going to take a look at the whole picture. And that's why if you call our office and you request a second opinion or for us to look at one thing to check for you, we are still going to need to schedule you for a full new patient exam and visit because we will not offer you an opinion without looking at the whole picture. The whole picture is going to tell us the root cause of what's really going on and not simply looking at the symptoms that you're having in that one area. And that's impossible to do without looking at absolute, absolutely everything. So rest assured, if you're coming in to get a second opinion and you come for the full visit, you're going to get exactly what you're looking for and feel really good about the information you're getting.
We are out of network with all dental benefit companies. The way this works is we have you pay up front for your services. We'll file the claims for you as long as you have a PPO plan out of network benefits. The dental benefit company will then send you a check in the mail for how much they'll help towards those services. As a wellness dentist, we want to do what's absolutely best for you. We always want to give you the very best care without having to worry about any restrictions that dental benefit companies will pose on our patients. This may mean providing you services that are not a covered benefit with your benefit company. Rest assured we will do everything we can to help you get the most reimbursement out of your dental benefit company on average.
Our practice tends to schedule new patient visits three months out because we tend to be very booked with new patients and we're always working off of a priority list. So should something in the schedule change, our team will work really hard to bring you in sooner. So if you have any really specific concerns or if you know that you want to come in sooner make sure that you let us know at the time of your call.
Because we don't see new patient emergencies and because we schedule about three months out for new patient visits, we want you to get relief as fast as possible. Give us a call, let us know what your concerns are, and we will help direct you to another wellness dentist that we know and trust and know that you'll be in good hands with so that you can get relief sooner.
To get started, you'll need to give us a call or send us an email through our website. When you give us a call, please make sure that you advise our team of all of your dental concerns. We want to make sure that you're in the right place and that you can get the help that you really need. And if you send us an email, please include as many details as possible about what kind of dentistry you're looking for. We know that sometimes our patients that call need very specific wellness care, and sometimes we learn through that process that maybe a more mainstream dentist is the right fit for you. So if you're not sure, investigate our website, check us out on social media and see what we're all about. And when you send us an email, we will respond back either via email or give you a call, depending on your preference. And we when you schedule a new patient visit, you will need to pay a 50% deposit of the new patient visit to reserve your time. We're here for you if you have any questions.
Thank you for watching this video. I hope it answered your questions about scheduling a visit with us. If you have additional questions, please reach out. We're happy to help.
