A functional doctor explains why they refer patients to wellness dentists: the mouth is upstream to the whole body. Wellness dentists use saliva tests, 3D scans, and detailed diagnostics to find hidden infections, metal, and bone problems that functional doctors can't screen for themselves, then share findings so the doctor can link oral issues to fatigue or medication resistance.

My functional doctor has recommended that I see a wellness dentist. And I was wondering if you could tell me more about why that is.
Absolutely. Actually functional integrated doctors are the one that refer to our patient us the most because they understand the whole body malconnection. They know that whatever they do below the neck, which is the downstream, will be affected directly with what's going on upstream, which is in the mouth. And so they've been trained at looking at the mouth for metal, looking at the mouth for toxicity like infected root canals or area where bone didn't heal, usually called cavitation. So they know, but they don't have the tool to screen and evaluate the patient for that. So they love working with the wellness dentist because not only we work with patients that have work or have an existing functional integrated doctor so we can exchange information on their health history, their blood work, their testing, but we also give them a report of what we see when we see that patient. So we give them report on saliva testing. Not many dentists doing saliva tests in the office. So having that report, the medical doctor can say, wow, I can see that they having a lot of infections going on. No wonder they feel fatigued. No wonder that the medication we put them on not working because it's not the right bacteria. So we send them saliva testing, we send them report as 3D CBCT. We send them photos and X rays of what's going on in the mouth. We're showing if you have a metal filling or any metal, it will show up on the X ray naked. I could not see just by screening or looking at the mouth. So functional Dr. Love that because now they actually can address or help patient address the upstream and therefore support the whole system and address the problem downstream. And so I don't know any functional doctor that not working with a wellness dentist to really complete the team and help the patients in a whole health aspect.
