Welcome to The Doctor's Farmacy
Dr. Mark Hyman launches a podcast about how food systems and policies drive chronic disease. He argues we need to rethink healthcare and agriculture to fix public health and the environment.
Hi, I'm Dr. Mark Hyman and welcome to my podcast, the Doctor's Pharmacy. And that's spelled F-A-R-M-A-C-Y, a podcast about things that matter. As you know, we're seeing an ever-increasing burden of chronic disease, which is primarily driven by our food and food system. And this is perpetuated by agricultural, food, and healthcare policies that don't support health. We need to rethink disease. and we need to reimagine a food system and a health care system that protects health, that unburdens the economy from the weight of obesity and chronic disease, that protects the environment and helps reverse climate change, and creates a nation of healthy citizens and children. This podcast will be the place for deep conversations about the critical issues of our time in the space of health, wellness, food, and politics. Everybody wants you to cut back on salt. Why can't you do it? I don't know why I never questioned maybe the basic advice is wrong. Martin Luther King Jr. Once said, Our lives begin to end when we become silent about things that matter. I hope you'll consider joining me each week for conversations about things that matter. New episodes are released every Wednesday and I hope to see you there.
