Dr. Noah St John explains how to cut stress by focusing only on what you control: your thoughts, words, and actions. He uses Stephen Covey's framework of circles of control, influence, and concern to show why worrying about everything else just drains you.
Hey, Dr.
Noah, what's one mindset shift that instantly reduces stress? You know, one mindset shift that you can do instantly is focus on what you can control and stop worrying about things you can't control. Dr. Stephen Covey talked about the 3 circles: the circle of control, the circle of influence, and the circle of concern. When we're focused on what we can't control, that's when we feel stress and overwhelm. So make sure you shrink your focus. To focus on things you can control, and there's only 3 things you can control: what you think, what you say, and what you do. That's it. The rest is out of our control. So focus on those 3 things, and then your circle of influence will actually start to grow. So focus on those 3 things. You'll see a big difference in less stress, less overwhelm, and a lot more accomplished in a shorter period of time.
