EMSCULPT REVIEW CAN YOU GET ABS WITHOUT GOING TO THE GYM We Tried It - The Sunday Times Style

Isabella tests EM Sculpt, a 30-minute electromagnetic treatment that delivers 20,000 sit-ups worth of muscle stimulation. At £750 per session, it produces noticeable results in 2 to 6 weeks, though it lacks the endorphin rush of actual exercise.

Hi everyone, and welcome to today's episode of We Tried It with me, Isabella. Before we get going, don't forget to click subscribe to the Sunday Times Style YouTube channel and turn the notifications on so that you get a little message when we upload our new videos. Today I'm off to try a treatment called EM Sculpt that's meant to give you washboard abs in 30 minutes. What I know about EM Sculpt is something electromagnetic, and it simulates a I think through electrical impulses, muscle contraction for toning and for strengthening, and I think also for a general improved aesthetic. Yes, I would like abs without having to work out for them. What's gonna happen to my stomach muscles is kind of what happened to my face when we did FaceGym, and you could sort of see my lip twitch. I don't think I'm gonna be lying there and feeling nothing. I think that I am gonna have sort of, I guess, lose control of my stomach muscles. The treatment costs, I know, £750 for one session, and they do recommend that you get 4, so I can't quite do the maths, but I do know that that's a lot. How would you describe your stomach muscles currently? They are fairly strong, not particularly visible, and could do with more of a workout. I don't have any plans for tomorrow in case I actually can't sit up and get out of my bed. Yeah, let's rock and roll. How many sit-ups can you normally do yourself? I can get to a solid 100. After 100, it becomes a little bit more difficult. The interior was spa clinic meets gorgeous home, and I thought that that created a really nice atmosphere throughout. Hi, Isabella, how are you?
I'm really good, thank you.
Dr. Preema explained to me exactly what was going to happen. I had to take off my jeans, I kept my underwear on, and then went to strap on this black elastic Spanx belt-like thing. Oh, here it is. This is what I saw Kim Kardashian do.
Yes, this single applicator will give you the equivalent of 20,000 sit-ups in a half an hour session.
Okay, so that's more than I'd probably ever do in my lifetime. I'm excited.
Shall we start?
Yes, yes. She went over to the robotic machine screen device. There were quite Some really energetic noises, quite sci-fi noises, I thought. I can definitely feel, like, the tingles sort of going into your abs. I'm saying abs like I've got some massive six-pack going on, but I'm just assuming that they're there. They're just gonna get them underneath the surface. Exactly.
With the electromagnetic stimulation, it is actually stimulating the muscle bulk in this area. It does spread to about 7 centimeters around that area. Soon you will hear a different ticking sound, which is actually relaxation phase.
You sort of become aware—
Oh, hello. That's the relaxation phase.
Oh, okay. Oh, it's so bizarre. You sort of feel like you're becoming aware of the complexity of your stomach muscles, which is interesting. It's sort of, I can feel everything moving in sort of areas of my stomach. Oh, hello. Your body doesn't move, but your stomach is moving in quite a volatile way. So you go through this series of, I guess, crunch, crunch, crunch, and then a more pulsating movement for the relaxation process. She explained that they were going to sort of raise the intensity of the treatment throughout the 30-minute session.
So we're back in the contracting phase. Now you can really see the contractions of the abs.
Yeah, you're definitely doing a sit-up. It was definitely not comfortable. I could not have fallen asleep. It wasn't uncomfortable, but you do know that something is going on.
Do you feel so much better if you've done a load of sit-ups?
Yeah, definitely, definitely. I feel like my abs might be sore tomorrow, but I'm okay for that. Oh, it's so weird. How long would it be until I start seeing results?
So the muscle buildup is actually between 2 and 6 weeks, but you will see more of the musculature after some of the fat has gone as well.
Okay.
So that happens a bit later, so that's more 6 to 8 weeks. And it sets people up on the right track as well.
Yeah, it just gives them a bit of a boost. It's almost like psychosomatic. You then start eating better, working out more. Yeah. Ta-da! Ooh! Amazing. There we go. Oh my God, I have a six-pack now. How do your abs feel now?
Does it feel like you've had a workout?
Yeah, do you know what? It actually does. It actually does, even if I'm relaxing. Yeah, my abs feel, they feel more awake. There is more going on here. Maybe it's just my lunch. It is slightly smoother and I do feel as if everything's sort of come in a bit. EM Sculpt definitely gets more out of my body than I probably would get out of it if I was at the gym. I know that I could not sit there and do 20,000 sit-ups or crunches. But there is something about going to the gym and exercising and having that release of endorphins that you don't get when you do the EM Sculpt. The 3 best things: no downtime, that you feel what it's doing, and that the benefits are not only aesthetic but for your overall well-being.
