Awakening the Healer Within: Angela Lerro's Experience
22 Aug 2025 · 43 min
In this Holistic Dentistry Podcast episode, Dr. Sanda Moldovan interviews intuitive health practitioner Angela Lerro about her multi‑decade battle with chronic illness and her path to recovery. Angela recounts a childhood of unexplained health issues that escalated at age 28 with a breast‑cancer diagnosis, which later revealed co‑existing Lyme disease, mold toxicity, and multiple co‑infections. After conventional medicine failed to explain or alleviate her symptoms, she turned to Reiki, energy work, and a deepening intuition. A bioresonance scan identified oral cavitations—infected pockets left from wisdom‑tooth extractions—that were acting as reservoirs for pathogens. Dr. Moldovan performed cavitation surgery, confirming the link between oral infection, systemic inflammation, and neurological symptoms. Angela then pursued a comprehensive detox protocol: a carnivore‑based diet, homeopathic remedies (DesBio), binders, and support for genetic detox limitations (CIRS, MTHFR, SIRS). She describes the prolonged healing timeline, Herxheimer reactions, and the importance of addressing mind, body, spirit, and environment. The conversation shifts to her current practice, where she offers remote and in‑person Reiki, intuitive counseling, and personalized wellness plans, emphasizing client empowerment and the necessity of holistic dental care. Remember, you're not healthy until your mouth is healthy, so take care of it in the most natural way. Everyone, welcome to today's show on the Holistic Dentistry Podcast. I'm so excited today to have my dear Angela Larrow here with us. She's an intuitive health practitioner, a Reiki master, energy healer, and medium devoted to helping others awaken the healer within. I love that. And I have to tell everybody how we met, Angela. By the way, welcome to today's show.
Thank you so Thank you so much, Dr. Sanda Moldovan. It's just an honor to be here today with you.
So we met a few years ago. I remember, you know, you came to our office, you weren't feeling well, you came in as a patient, and we worked together over a period, I want to say, of 6 to 8 months or so, and to kind of get you to a point where you could start healing from other things. And that's kind of the gist of it. So today we're going to go over your journey, and thank you so much for wanting to share that journey with with the rest of us and the rest of the listeners. I know we have a lot of other people that are suffering through Lyme, co-infections, mold toxicity, and they really don't know what to do about it. So I want to talk about that and also about your practice of Reiki and what that is. Some people maybe have never heard or never experienced it. So what would you like to start with your journey of the Reiki?
Let's start with the journey because that, I think the, you know, it ultimately led me to where I am today. And, um, when did it all start for you?
So when did you start feeling sick?
So I've had a lifelong history of mysterious chronic illnesses since I was a child. But ultimately I would say that I didn't really experience my first real, I guess you want to call it like fatal sickness until I was 28 and was diagnosed with breast cancer. And that was in 2013 in May. And I didn't know at the time that I was also suffering from Lyme disease and that I had mold toxicity and co-infections. So that journey led me through a a holistic, a whole holistic way of living. Because at that time I was so dedicated to Western medicine because that was my whole life. Yeah. I lived in doctor's offices, you know, my, I would get sick chronically for everything. I had chronic sinus infections, chronic digestive issues, chronic allergies, mast cell activation, histamine issues, but you know, back then in the '90s, they didn't have diagnoses or they didn't believe in root cause healing, not especially not where I lived in this small town in Pennsylvania. We didn't, we didn't talk about functional medicine, holistic health. We just talked about prescriptions and you just went on your merry way. Prescriptions and vaccines. That was all we got. Oh yeah.
And a lot of people out there suffering from what you suffered are getting exactly that today. Just pills. Vaccines and they're not getting any help.
Right.
So at what point in your journey you had a spark or maybe an idea that maybe there's a different way?
Right. So it started with the breast cancer journey when I realized that the prescriptions weren't working and Western medicine started looking at me like I was a zebra. In fact, some of my doctors just started calling me a unicorn. They're like, you're a zebra unicorn. Because the more issues I started to have post-breast cancer, it was like they didn't know what to do with me. They didn't know, you know, and at that time I didn't know anything about detoxing or holistic health. It was just, well, maybe you're having post-cancer syndrome. Maybe you need to just, you know, take this pill, or maybe you're just anxious or stressed and you need to go on some sort of You know, SSRI or, you know, anti-anxiety. And I'm like, well, I'm not anxious, but I'm, I'm, I'm telling you what I'm experiencing and you want to blame it on stress. And the only thing that's stressing me out is the fact that you're not listening to me.
Yeah.
And, and at that point I realized that I had to take my health in my own hands and become my own advocate and start looking for alternative ways to heal myself. And ultimately that led me to Reiki and energy work. And that's when I truly started to dive into this space of how energy works within our body and our nervous system really controls our entire ecosystem. It, it controls our immune system, our digestive system, our endocrine system. But it's not just that, you know, it's our thoughts, it's our beliefs, our behavior patterns.
So there's so many factors involved in healing, you know, I actually took a Reiki class. I don't think I told you this, but during COVID we had a lot of free time, so I took a course on a Reiki class and I started, you know, experimenting with the healing, with the movement and, you know, working on my cat and it was a time I was sick and it's really fascinating to dive into the energy work.
It really is. It really is. And the energy meridians that I've learned through you, which I will get to just about the teeth, which is a whole other part of my practice, you know, and I can't wait to get to that part because that's one of my most exciting topics. But the energy work is truly what got me through breast cancer, but it got me and it got me through it for, you know, and that's how I started my practice because I was receiving energy work, was receiving Reiki, and that's what helped me get through 95% of all of my, my my issues that came post-cancer, all of these autoimmune flare-ups that, that started to pop up after cancer. I was doing really well. And then I got into a relationship and I moved into his home. And I didn't know at the time what mold toxicity was. I didn't know at the time what Lyme disease was, co-infections, none of that. And I started to see my health was No matter what I was doing, you know, I was eating the clean diet at that point. I was eating, I was eating clean. Everything I made was cooked from scratch. I eliminated all the top allergens. I moved every day. I hiked every day. I grounded. I meditated. You know, I was doing it all, but all of it, but still something was happening to my body. But we just didn't know. We didn't know what it was. And I started to suffer and then I had to have an emergency surgery, which was on just like I had thoracic outlet syndrome. However, because my immune system was so compromised and I didn't realize that, it opened up Pandora's box. And then we learned later on after I— because I was not healing from that surgery, then our relationship started to fall apart. And then we ended up having to sell the house, or he had to sell the house. And we found out that there was toxic mold throughout the house, specifically in my Reiki room where I was practicing. And at that time, at that— by that point, I couldn't walk. I was fainting multiple times a day, like 15 times a day or more, because every time I would stand up, my blood would just pull to my ankles and I'd pass out. I lost my driver's license. I lost my ability to eat. I was going into anaphylactic due to severe histamine issues. I was having mast cell activation attacks, I was getting hives all the time, pain. I mean, I was basically on my deathbed. I was diagnosed with probably over 20 different neurological conditions, but nobody could tell me why. And because I had that surgery, all of the Western doctors just kept saying, This is just part of the surgery. They must have clipped your vagus nerve. And so now you're just going to have to learn how to live like this. Oh my. I remember looking at my neurologist and I said, I'm really sorry to tell you this, but if I keep living like this, I'm pretty sure I only have about 3 or 4 months to live because of how quickly my health was deteriorating. And I just felt like once again, no one was believing me. So I ended up going back to Pennsylvania and I was having a mast cell attack, you know, anaphylactic reaction to something that I was eating. And at the same time, one of my old neighbors called my mom to check on me because I was staying with my mom in Pennsylvania. And he was like, did she ever get checked for Lyme disease? And I'm like, I'm 30 at this point, you know, I'm 35 years old at that point. And I'm like, I lived in California and it doesn't exist in California. So why would I be checked for that? And he said, well, you grew up here and you've been through under a lot of stress. You had surgeries, you had breast cancer, you had all these things. And Lyme is an opportunistic infection. And if you were living in mold, it activated that infection while you were going through a stress response of a surgery and a breakup. And he's like, and now it's just— it sounds like it's just taking over your whole body.
Yeah.
I— Dr. Sanda Moldovanova, like, talk about, like, I mean, I'm stubborn and I will argue to my death if I— and I'm like, I argued with him for a month. He tried to get me to get tested and I just was like, it's not this, it's not mold, it's not, you know, I didn't know anything. I was so ignorant and I'm so strong-willed and I eventually made a bet with him and I went and got tested and I was positive for Lyme. I was positive for co-infections, Babesia and Bartonella, and I was positive for mold. And that's when I learned that, you know, our environment, you know, basically like Lyme may have pulled, may have loaded the gun, but my environment pulled the trigger. That's a good word, "pariah." And that just, it floored me, but I was so sick. I didn't know where to turn because I had gone to this world-renowned Lyme doctor who was in Pennsylvania because PA is the number one state in the country, actually. Now we've actually beat Lyme, Connecticut for Lyme cases. And he looked at me and like handed me back my medical history and he's like, you're going to need to figure out how to heal yourself. Because I can't, I can't do this.
Wow.
Sick for me. And I was like, well, I've been here before. And I met this, um, somehow, you know, like through divine spirit. I prayed on this a lot. There were like, there were two things at that point that, that came to me. And, um, one was the carnivore diet because that was the only thing I wasn't reacting to anymore. Like I was plant-based at point. And the only thing that I could still somewhat eat was, was meat that I didn't react to. So then I learned about non-aged meat and histamine intolerance. So then I found a bioresonance practitioner who started running my DNA on her little scan, her little scanner machine. I basically would send her blobs of my saliva and she—
Tell people what bioresonance, because I know some people listening might not know what that is.
Yes. So, so bioresonance is like, uh, actually it's kind of hard for me to explain it, but it's like, it's a little like, it's a machine that measures how disease energetically affects us.
Like the frequency, basically. Everything's a frequency.
Because— A pulse. That's right.
Yes.
And physical disease starts in, people don't realize this, but physical disease starts energetically. Before it starts physically. It's like energetically, and it's emotionally, then it's mentally, and then it's physical.
Yes.
So what I love about bioresonance, that it can measure if the disease is still in the energetics or if it's hit you on more of a physical level. And when she did my, my reading, I remember the same time that she did my reading was when she found, she found the Lyme, and I got my Lyme results at the same time that she was texting me. But the most interesting thing that I had never heard about before is she goes, you can't get well until you treat cavitations. And I was like, wait a minute, I just discovered mold. I just discovered infections. And now you're telling me I have cavitations. I don't need one more thing. And she's like, I am so sorry, but you need to understand what cavitations are. She's like, you had your wisdom teeth out. And I had not told her anything. You know, the only thing she had of mine was a swab, an energy swab, or sorry, a saliva swab. And she's like, you know, you've had, she's like, you have, I think she said I had like 4 or 5 or something like that that came up. And she explained to me that cavitations are from where I had my teeth extracted, my wisdom teeth extracted. And that there was, even though the gum line had healed, that there were these pockets from where my tooth was extracted. And she's like, most of your infection right now is in your mouth. I need to go find a biological dentist. And, you know, I'm in Pennsylvania at that point and I'm like, you know, I'm in my small little town. I was like, well, I'm, you know, yes, I'm going to find that. And I knew I was like, well, I guess I will have to wait till I go back to to California, and, um, and that was in, I believe, February or March. And so in the meantime, I ended up finding a naturopath that specialized in Lyme because she herself also had Lyme and co-infections and mold. And so she started me on a detox. That was the only thing that we could do at that point. I couldn't take any herbs. And my bioresonance practitioner said, she's like, you just to start detoxing the mold. You can't treat the Lyme because you're too sick right now. You need to get these cavitations addressed or else your treatments are going to be ineffective. And, and I believed her wholeheartedly. And so I was like, well, I guess I'll go down a rabbit hole of looking for people in LA that specialize in this. I didn't even know where to start. So I, there was a couple different ways that I found you. The only other person at that point, because, you know, I was a Reiki practitioner, so I did work with people with chronic illnesses. So I remember I had a client named Jill and she recommended me to you. Her and her son worked with me. So I remember she had mentioned you like in a session, you know, like a year before all of that. And I remember helping her and her son get, mainly her son, get through his Lyme infection. And so I remember her, but then I also was trying to find other ways to heal. And I was looking into hyperthermia. And so I was so, I was at a crossroads, like, okay, well maybe I need to get these done and I'll go get hyperthermia. And I then listened to this podcast with Yolanda Hadid. And she mentioned, like, because I was, you know, I was like, okay, I don't, I don't know which way to turn right now first. And she mentioned you, and she mentioned that cavitation surgery was her— was what saved her life. And I felt like when I had heard that, like, she was speaking to me. And she had said she had wished that she had started there instead of, like, like, she had wished she had started there instead I think it was like her last treatment instead of her first. And that really like hit me. And I went to you, I was like terrified. I didn't know what to expect. And you found the cavitations with your amazing machine, your cone beam machine, and you found that. And then once you started talking about energy meridians, I didn't even tell you. I mean, I maybe wrote it down and like in my patient intake form, my health history, but I don't even think you had a chance to look at that yet. No, I didn't.
Basically, just based on the scan, I was going on those meridians to see where it was affecting you, especially your energy. I remember how thin you were when you came in the office.
Yes, I was 89 pounds and I stopped counting when I got down to 89 because I was afraid because I just kept losing weight and I'm like, I'm probably at, was like at 85 at that point, but I just didn't want to step on the scale anymore. But yeah, one thing for me that sold the— that was the real deal for me was that you looked at my meridians and you said, let me guess, you had breast cancer in your right breast. And I about fell off the chair and I was like, oh, fuck.
Because that was the side where you had your root canal. Yeah, that's why.
Yeah, exactly. But that's what I'm saying. I was like, She knows, like she's, she's like, she is so connected. And this, this dentist, like not only practices what she preaches, but she, she knows, like, she knows, you know your stuff. And to me, when you said that so confidently, I became confident in you at that moment. And because as somebody who reads energy, I, when I read clients, I do the same thing. I've got to come off confident because if I sit there and I'm like, well, me, you know, and they're like, all right, can I trust you?
Yeah, I'm the same way when I pick my practitioners or even people on our team. I have to go with my feeling, with my intuition and the energy that I get off that person. I know exactly what you mean.
Yes. And in that moment, Dr. Sanda Moldovan, that was when I knew that you are going to be the doctor that saved my life. And I just, and that's when I was like, okay, let's, let's do this. But, um, I think the, the other miracle part of working with you was then a couple months later, I was with some friends at the beach and we were doing a full moon ritual. And I just said, if there's anything else in my body that needs to come forward and that's causing me to continue to stay sick. Please just be released. And when I got home, this crown fell off and I went into your office 2 days later and we looked at it and there was black mold growing underneath it.
Yeah.
And I remember that. And that was so profound for me because I remember them like Even though, like, it wasn't like an immediate fix, but just getting that out of my mouth, I remember starting to feel better. And then I continued to— you continued to teach me about all the different energy meridians and with my cavitations and how they were connected to my central nervous system, my digestive system, my endocrine. And I'm just like, I think the world needs to understand that our health starts in our mouth, specifically at our teeth and our gums and our Jawbone.
It's the one place I so agree with you, Angela. Sorry to interrupt you, but it's the one place where healthcare practitioners don't look typically. No, we look everywhere else. And there was such a disconnect over time between the mouth and the body that it's, you know, I'm glad that you're bringing the story forward. Just I'm hoping for all the dentists that are listening and other hygienists to understand the importance of oral health and knowing what goes in it.
Right. I mean, because when I met you, I could barely walk at that time. Like, I was, you know, I was so dead. I mean, I was a skeleton and I couldn't— I couldn't— I could barely eat. I could— I could barely even— I felt like I could barely even form a sentence. And everything was just so difficult for me. My energy levels were super low. I I mean, I had your chronic everyday, every, you know, everybody that has a chronic illness can understand and I'm sure connect to just feeling like your body completely betrayed you. And when you did the cavitation surgery and we did the DNA Connections test, I was floored to see the amount of different viruses and infections that were in those, those jawbones. And yeah, I remember bringing them to like a Western doctor because I, I had just like, my insurance wanted me to see an infectious disease doctor even though I knew it was going to be a waste of time. I brought it and then I remember she looked at that, she's like, oh, she just like gaslit me and bypassed these infections that were in my, in my jawbones. And I was just like, I just remember grabbing the paper and I was like, you know, this is just a waste of my time.
Yeah, she didn't know what to do with that. That's the thing. She just didn't know what to do with it.
She did not know. She did not know. And I have to say that knowledge is power. And when you know that there are these viruses and that they can't— I mean, that's not just viruses. I mean, there's parasites. You know, we've got parasites that go into our, into our gum line. We've got our jawbones, into our teeth. I mean, there's so— our mouths are breeding bacteria. Like we, you know, our tongues, everything. If you're going to, if people can't understand that, that, that connects to our joints, our bones, it's our, you know, our whole system. Like that needs to be the first line of defense these days and not the last. And I mean, I would love, I mean, I want to just shout it out at the rooftops at all times. Because I have so many people that I work with that also are having a hard time getting well. And I'm just like, please find a holistic dentist. Please look at your mouth. Did you have wisdom teeth removed? If you have, please go see a biological dentist. Chances are your body is, is holding on to some deep bacteria and viruses and infections, and your body needs help to rid them and to treat them so that you can treat the rest of your body. Because to me, you know, the root of all disease is toxicity.
That's exactly right. And these microbes that are hiding in the jawbone and causing bleeding gums, they release toxins. We know some of the toxins that they release because they can cause bone destruction, like brain fog, inflammation. And I find it so interesting for you, Angela, you have to go through this in order to understand and now help heal others from their ailments. Thank you.
Yeah. I mean, you know what?
So, so after our cavitation surgery, it was still a little bit of a journey for you to get better because it doesn't happen overnight. And this is what I tell a lot of patients, you know, that come in feeling sick. Unfortunately, it's not an overnight process. And I would love to kind of talk about that process just to help other people going through this journey that you were on. To understand what it's like after cavitation surgery?
Absolutely. Patience. That this is a marathon, it's not a sprint. And once I had my cavitation surgery, I had to then, you know, I had to heal first. I believe I healed for about 3 or 4 months just to get myself back into baseline. Because when you heal from cavitation surgery, you're going to experience some die-off. You're going to have a herpes a little bit of a Herxheimer reaction, but that's where your binders and your, your nervous system support and other practices that can definitely help support your body. Then I moved into— that's when I started to treat the Lyme and the co-infections. And for a year, basically a year and a half, I went down a huge journey and I started to I used a product called Desbio, which is homeopathy, because even though I had treated the Lyme and we were de— or treated the cavitations, I'm sorry, I was still pretty reactive to plants, so I couldn't do herbs. And at that point, the Lyme, because it had been so— it was a lifelong disease that I didn't know that I had, I was considered chronic at that point. So we're not going to throw a bunch of antibiotics at you when you're, when you're considered chronic, because all that's going to do is just clear out your gut and it's going to lower your immune system. And then your immune system isn't going to learn how to fight. So because the medicine is fighting for you. So I learned, I studied a lot about homeopathy and my Lyme practitioner, she's Flares by DesBio. So I used DesBio to treat the Lyme, Babesia, and Bartonella, and that was a whirlwind. It took me, like I said, about a, about a year to get through it and then another 6 months to heal from all of the die-off. I don't want to call it the damage, but you know that when you have an infection that has run rampant through your body for over 30 years, there's, there's a lot of damage.
Yeah, we can't fix it in 2 days for sure.
Exactly. And, and that's where I truly went from understanding that even though as an energy worker I was focusing mainly in my practice at that time for 5— I was in my practice at that point for about 5 years, and I was just mainly at that time focusing on mind, body, soul, but mainly just the energy work of it. But during that time, I started studying what worked for my body, which was for me was eating a carnivore diet and learning the benefits of eating nose to tail and organ meat. And also, you know, I was learning about holistic healing modalities like circadian rhythm balancing and supporting my lymphatic system, dry brushing. Epsom salt baths, vitamin nutrients. You know, I was also doing some vitamin drips because my body at that point was still having a hard time absorbing the nutrients from the food that I was getting. I went so many different rabbit holes of learning how to detox through genetic dispositions such as CIRS, chronic inflammatory response syndrome, which is basically what ended up after my, my Lyme and co-infection and mold journey led me to learning about CIRS, Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome, which it's a rare disposition, genetic disposition that causes the body to inefficiently detox and based on these genes. And it made so much sense because like my treatments for me were pretty difficult. Because then I finally learned that I had SIRS and I had these different gene variants that made the detoxing, the, the treatments a little bit more difficult. Plus I also have the MTHFR mutation. And so I started to really go down the gene path of learning how like MTHFR and COMT and all these other SIRS genetics play all play their part when it comes to people being chronically ill. And then I slowly got into the nervous system support, trauma, and how that affects our, our immune system and our nervous system. So I started to implement all of these things into my, my holistic practice to make it a holistic total wellness approach to healing. Yeah, I love what you said about, you know, genetic and SIRS.
I think SIRS is underdiagnosed.
Me too.
And some people are wondering, why am I not detoxing? Why do I still feel crappy?
Why?
I had cavitation surgery, but I'm still feel crap. There's other missing links. And I think a big part is this genetic component, because if you know you're genetically not as good of a detoxifier, you have to take it slower. You can't just try to detoxify everything because you, because that, you know, that passage is not that open. So you have to take it slower. It might take longer. It might take a year and a half. That's okay.
That's right. That's right. Because, you know, and that's something that I focus on with my clients. And I say, you know, a lot of people think that, oh, because, you know, it's like, I just want to start detoxing. And it's like, no, no, no. We got to start with your detox pathways. Healing is methodical. And it's an art. And the way that I healed and the way that you healed and that person healed, it's all going to be a little different, but it's got to start. I always say it always starts in the mind. We've got to make that decision. We've got to make that decision to heal. But then we've got to see where in the body does that need to be focused. Some people need to— it needs to be focused on nutrition, you know, and I like to kind of look at everything as a whole, like where, what are you eating? What are you thinking? What are you doing? What's your lifestyle? But most importantly, how are you integrating? Like, what's your energy like? What are you bringing into, into your life right now? What's your, what's your environment like? What are you breathing in? What are you listening to? You know?
So it's, it all matters.
It all matters. And those pathways, you know, are so crucial. And I even talk about like, there's people don't understand that there's an energy pathway. Energy pathways are a thing. Energy is blocked. Once again, your energy is blocked. You are not, we are not truly able to heal. Stress is so important. We have to address the spirit to address the stress.
Absolutely. I know a lot of people listening to your story are wanting to work with you because you've gained so much experience. So where, where can people find you? Do you take on new clients and how do you, how do you work with clients? Let's go into that.
Yeah. So, well, first of all, they can find me on Instagram and my Instagram handle is @meatbasedmedium. So meat, E-A-T, based, B-A-S-E-D, medium.
And if you follow me on Instagram, you know, we're going to definitely connect you guys as well, whoever wants to, but we're going to put your Instagram handle in our show notes below.
And then they can also, they can find me on my website as well, meatbasedmedium.com. And they can also email me meatbasedmedium@gmail.com.
So how do you like, uh, what kind of clients do you work with? What's your usual client?
So right now, you know, I'm working, I work remotely mainly. I work around with people all over the world and My clients vary. I mean, if you're in Los Angeles, I am more than happy to see you in person. I do, I do work in person in LA, but if you're anywhere else in the world, I work remotely over the phone. But majority of my clients, they all, they vary. Some of them, most of them right now are in the chronic illness space. They, a lot of them have, are going through similar issues as I've gone through between neurological conditions, mast cell, histamine, helping them find the root cause, like Lyme disease, mold toxicity, co-infections. And then I've also worked with other people who are just on more of a spiritual journey. So I do work a lot with just helping people just maintain their energy and their energy balances. And then, you know, I also work with people who just want to focus on diet, nutrition. So it just varies on, on what type of service they need. But what I do is after I have a consultation with them, then I know that what kind of treatment plan to create for them. And so I like to just create little customized healing programs for my clients. And because my goal with my practice is that I don't want to take their power, I want to give them tools so that they become their own greatest healer, so that they don't need me once they're finished with their program, because I'm going to give them the tools so that when they're having a flare-up or something happens, that they know how to manage it themselves instead of outsourcing their power. And one of the ways that I do that is through, through energy work. I've been an intuitive since I was born. I was, I feel like I was like a blessing and a curse. Of giving this gift of intuition and mediumship. And from a child, I started being able to intuitively see things that I couldn't explain and I didn't understand. And it ultimately started affecting my health. And I truly believe that was part of the problem of why I was getting so sick was because I also didn't understand how to channel this information at a young age that I was receiving.
Mm-hmm.
When I got sick with breast cancer and I met this Reiki master at my cancer center at Tower Cancer Research Foundation, which isn't far from your, from your practice. I met this woman who was channeling Reiki for us cancer patients, and she looked at me and she said, you know why you're sick? And I said, yeah, I have cancer. She goes, well, you haven't used your gift. And I just looked at her and I started crying because I knew what she was talking about because I had spent, at that point I was 28, I was like, I've spent 28 years suppressing this. My dad passed, my dad who was super intuitive and super gifted, um, passed away when I was 9. And so when he died, I felt like he, you know, that was my connection to him. So that kind of died within me as well. And So I was afraid of it because I didn't have anybody to talk to about it or understand it. And I'll never forget, she looked at me and she said, well, when the student's ready, the teacher appears. And as I was receiving Reiki from her that day, I felt something inside of me shift and ignite. And I knew right then and there that my whole life would just change. And the more I received energy, like Reiki from her, I started to realize that my passion was that I wanted to learn my gift, but I wanted to help people heal. And at that time, I had been in the fashion industry for 10 years. And I knew, you know, after over time, over like, I worked with her for about 6 months before I realized that after seeing a lot of my autoimmune issues clear up and a lot of my food sensitivities were going away. How powerful energy work really was. And that's when I realized, I came out of my session and I said, I am meant to do this work and I'm going to start owning who I am and learn from you whenever. And I said, I don't know when that's going to happen, but this is where I'm, my path is leading me to. And so I did. And that was in, I ended up getting my first certification in November of 2014, and then I, I got my second certification in February 2015, and I started my practice in May of 2015. And then I got my master— my Reiki master and teacher certification in April 2019, which was right before my surgery that unlocked Pandora's box. And at that same time, my mentor, she ended up moving back to Brazil. And I remember feeling so lost and I called her and I was like, where are you? And she goes, when the master appears, or sorry, when the master appears, the teacher disappears. I love it. And it's your time right now that you need to heal. This is like, you need to learn how to heal yourself on this level by yourself. And I mean, it wasn't necessarily by myself. I had to find other resources, you know, but it was, it was something that I had to master within me was to, I'm going to become like, sure, I've got a master certification on paper, but what does that really mean? And I don't think we're ever really truly masters because we're always learning and we're always growing and we're always evolving. And that is what I truly believe a master is. A master is someone who continues to grow and learn and evolve with the intention of helping other people. Absolutely.
That's in every profession, by the way.
Yes.
Yeah, because even in my profession, we have to continuously grow and learn and change and adapt.
Yes. And so, so really it's been a life, you know, I dedicate right now my life is to helping others. I want to help other people thrive and heal and get their life back because I truly went from somebody who was living in a bed and living in emergency rooms and hospitals. And last year I felt so badly because I didn't get to see you at all last year because I went and traveled Europe by myself. We missed you. I was like, I wanted to gift myself that because that was my dream. And my dream had always been to go to Europe for 3 months. And I remember at that, at that moment when I decided I needed to do this for my soul and I couldn't walk and I said, I'm going to get well. My why was because I want to go to Europe and I want to backpack. And I remember my mom, she was like, well, can we backpack to the bathroom without you falling down first before we start thinking about sending you to Europe with a backpack by yourself?
I think, Angela, you gave everybody so much hope, especially people that are listening to this and they're suffering and they're in bed, perhaps they can't get up, they can't walk, you know, and there is a systematic path to healing. And if you could do it, everybody else can. It's just a matter of finding that inside of them and getting the right mentor to help them through that path.
Absolutely, absolutely. And I'm just here I want to walk and be a guide for everybody that, that needs support right now. The way I see it is that you and I, Dr. Sanda Moldovanova Moldovanova, we, we're the compasses, but our clients and patients, they're the maps, and we're just here to help guide them in the direction that they need to go. And, and that's why I just think that you are so incredible about what you're doing and the way that you help other people, because, you know, you were definitely, for me, you were the first doctor that, that believed me and saved my life. And I will forever remember you like that way. To me is who you are.
I'm honored to be able to do that, Angela.
You're so blessed, especially because everybody in California, doctor-wise, thinks that Lyme doesn't exist here. And you were the first doctor to say, uh, yeah, it does.
