The Future of Healthcare: Precision Medicine Explained with Dr. Andrea Sanches
2 Jul 2026 · 24 min
In this Holistic Dentistry podcast episode, host Dr. Sanda Moldovan interviews Dr. Andrea Sanchez, a Brazilian physician specializing in nutrology, functional, precision, regenerative, and longevity medicine. Dr. Sanchez shares her personal journey into functional medicine, rooted in a family of holistic practitioners, and explains how precision medicine integrates genetics, epigenetics, metabolomics, and biohacking tools such as wearables and AI to create individualized health protocols. She discusses the practical use of DNA and epigenetic testing to tailor nutrition, lifestyle, and supplement plans, emphasizing the importance of understanding a patient’s ancestry, environment, and daily habits. The conversation highlights core lifestyle pillars—sleep, gut health, stress management, and circadian rhythm—and how they intersect with advanced interventions like peptide therapy, which she describes as precise cellular signaling compared to broad‑acting drugs. Dr. Sanchez underscores the oral‑systemic connection, illustrating how periodontitis can reflect deeper metabolic or gastrointestinal issues, and advocates for interdisciplinary collaboration between dentists, nutritionists, and physicians. She critiques the overload of health misinformation on social media, urging science‑driven, personalized approaches. The interview also introduces her 11ness platform, built on three pillars: telehealth (home‑clinic), immersive experiences for clinicians and patients, and a wellness club fostering community, purpose, and shared knowledge. Practical tips for travelers—hydration, sleep scheduling, and peptide support—are offered. The episode concludes with calls to action for listeners to explore Dr. Sanchez’s online courses, follow her on Instagram, and consider the holistic integration of oral health within broader precision medicine strategies.

Jesus. What's up?
Hi everyone. Welcome to another episode on the Holistic Dentistry Show. I'm your host, Dr. Sanda Moldovan, and with me today I have Dr. Andrea Sanchez from Brazil, and she's a physician specializing in nutrology, functional medicine, precision regenerative medicine, and longevity medicine with a focus on personalized wellness, biohacking, advanced diagnostics, and lifestyle optimization. Her clinical approach combines science-driven strategies with individual care, developing personalized protocols focused on quality of life, performance, metabolic balance, vitality, and longevity while respecting each patient's unique biology. So, uh, without further ado, welcome to the show, Dr. Andrea. Thank you.
It's an honor to be here in this beautiful French Riviera. Yes.
And it's the premiere of She Healed, or She Healed, a documentary about women's health.
Amazing place, amazing people, everyone sharing their stories and the knowledge.
Yes.
I'm so glad to be here and also share a part of my history.
Yes. I think you're the only one from Brazil.
That's crazy, right?
Yes.
Across.
Across. Thank you for coming and being here with me to talk about health and your passion. And I'm curious, how did you start in functional medicine? What did you discover?
Yeah, it's actually a funny story because I came from a family of functional doctors. So my father, he was my pediatric and homeopathic. So he gave all me the knowledge inside home about the Eastern medicine. So Chinese, Indian medicine. So I was, I grew in this holistic vegetarian, he is vegetarian. So I was inside this atmosphere of health and this functional side.
You're very lucky because most people that I talk to discover functional medicine through a health challenge. Exactly.
And I, yeah, that's, that's the point. I always see the patients that come, they know functional after having like a chronic disease, a point that no diagnostics. And I'm, I'm glad and I'm very grateful to have the experience to, to live the functional medicine since I was born, trying to understand what kind of food should we take, what kind of thinking thoughts should we do. And basically this part of mentality and spirituality. Was very, very important in my way of medicine and the way that I've been doing my practice right now. But also when I started doing functional medicine, I started doing my self-knowledge. So yeah, I see.
Is functional medicine popular in Brazil?
We have the both, the both philosophies, like the conventional one in the university, but we also, we have also this movement. From integrative and functional medicine.
Mm-hmm.
Because people are interested to perform, people are interested to know themselves from where they from, what they should they take. So yeah.
Tell me more about precision medicine. What does that mean? Exactly.
If we, if we talk about the name precision, we say like, okay, precision. So genetic. We don't have just genetic tests. To, to call like medicine as precision. We have also epigenetic metabolomics. So we understand the medicine from personalization. So basically we study blood tests, genetic tests, metabolomic tests, which called precision and combining with the technologies. So biohacking, biohacker strategies, tools. When we use our technologies, AI, So we need to connect the conventional part with the future part.
Mm-hmm.
So, which is precision regenerative medicine does, you know, I love it, this kind of connection. Mm-hmm. Because people are normally the, the medicine that we learn in, in medical school, they are guided for, from the disease, they're guided from the illness, but precision regenerative medicine, they focus in the, in the, in the region, you know, the integration. Uh, the, the health basically. So we start treating ourselves from inside the cell. Mm-hmm.
Still not a lot of doctors do, uh, DNA testing. How does it help you as a doctor? If you can give me an example of how a patient, the way you treat a patient changes when you do DNA testing.
Okay. Okay. DNA testing. If we just think about it, this DNA is like your personal information. You know, and that's the first thought that we know about ourselves. When I say self-knowledge is important. Okay. How can I do my self-knowledge? I will meditate. I'll do a retreatment. I will read a book. But first of all, I would say, do your genetics tests. You need to know where you're from, you know? And I started treating my patients since the name. So ask the name, the surname, you know, the last name. I say, okay, where are you from? Where are your origins? Where do you live? Because we know also that epigenetics and lifestyle, uh, impact in your DNA. So when I have the information, me as a doctor, I take the data and transform to prescription. So I need to create a personalized prescription following the data, the DNA test, the hacking technology that we have in Oura Ring, Whoop, all the wearable technologies.
Amazing. So when you mean like epigenetics impacts, like where you're from, for example, so So if somebody is, let's say, Asian, okay, would you look at that genetic differently or the way you treat them versus somebody who's from Brazil?
Yeah, exactly. That's why when I have been traveling, I, and live in many countries and to know about the language, I, I've been living in, in Germany, in Italy, in Portugal, around, and every country that I've been, I met some patients around.
Uh-huh.
So when I do the genetic tests or just blood tests and the, and see the environment, That's the most important thing to understand where your patient are, where you are, you know, what is your habits, your lifestyle, because this, this is gonna impact in your health. And maybe we don't need a medicine specifically. We, we don't need the high top quality of, of a pill. We need change our timetable. We need change our choices daily. For example, the time that we wake up, uh, the, our connection with the nature. So sunlight exercises, the lifestyle medicine impact, and I I saw this when I used to live in this region of blue zones region, you know, the longevity zones of the planet.
Yes.
We have in Okinawa in Japan. Never been there. I would like, but also we have in Greece, in Italy, and in States.
Yes.
And Loma Linda.
Yeah. Yes.
And what I see in those patients and living there, that is the sense of the community. So what you are doing here and biohacking yourself with this opportunity. That's why I, I accept in the last minute to came from Brazil is because when we are connected with people that have the same purpose, we, we find our purpose in life. You know, this is a type of medicine, connection, community, and yeah, that's, that's the way to, to get to have like a, the best biohacking for longevity. I would say.
Couldn't agree more. There's actually a documentary that was done called Happy. I don't know if you've seen that, but in this documentary, they actually researched what makes people happy and it was essentially a sense of purpose.
Okay.
And a sense of community.
Okay. A sense of purpose. Just remind me, ikigai. Yeah.
You know the name? Yeah.
The sense of community to belong. Actually, we are, we are, what you're searching for. I always ask my patient because they, they arrive to me like, I wanna lose weight. I wanna get my performance, my, I wanna perform everything. I say, wait, what you're looking for, for inside, you know, what is your question? I, I've been right now, like, uh, in the girls open cards here in the event. What is your question? I was like, oh my God, I questioned for my patient. So I would, I need to have also this question.
Okay. I know.
I know.
Very true. Now, one of the modalities you use for your patients is peptides. And I'm a big fan of peptides. And I want to ask you, how do you use peptides in your practice?
Yeah, basically we need to understand where we are, where your, your license is, because in Brazil right now we have some peptides that is approved. Also in States, FDA is also approved some of peptides.
Yes.
We have many peptides that it's like selling in the pharmacy. Right? We have oxytocin, insulin, we have semaglutide, tirzepatide, which is approved, but also we have the other peptides, which I believe that soon coming more popular, the other types to improve performance, gut health, skin health. So for now, uh, I apply peptides. I, I study a lot and also teach the other doctors because normally we receive patient using peptides. So basically peptides for me is very special because they are just signals, you know, they, they teach our body to recreate, to, how can I say, give special signals to ourselves to communicate a better communication inside the cell. I normally, when a patient asks me what is peptide and I say, okay, it's a small chain of protein, which is amino acids, but also I would like to compare like a medicine is like a bomb. You, when you use a bomb, explode it and touch a lot of things near to you. But peptide would be like a sniper. We go to your cell and say, okay, let's do this, this, let's make this trigger specifically.
Yes, absolutely. It's more in the precision medicine.
Exactly.
Part. I understand.
Yeah. We don't say more general protocols. I don't like protocols. Also this, also this word protocol. We, we are so unique, you know, you are just you, the whole world with your abilities, your purpose to be here, to share your knowledge with your patients. And you're so unique. So you deserve this. Like Shahila documentary, I was talking with Teresa Lolli and she was like, oh, this is beautiful because I, I want that women deserve the best health, you know. So they need to have the support. So what I would like to say that supporting people, uh, it's very special that they can also go in their own health to have more autonomy.
Yes. What do you think the biggest mistake people make in trying to optimize their health?
That's, that's a good question because normally with social media, we are like almost overwhelming, struggling with a lot of information and the bad part is Normally patient, they trust everything that they, they see in, in social media, in TikTok and Instagram. Yes. And that's the, the bad, the bad part because they are not like a science-driven programs.
Yes.
Or courses. And they just follow and something information from a coach that is not a coach. And you know, you don't know if it's good or not and not a doctor. And, uh, that's why it's, it's complicated when you have so many information online. And they follow just searching something and asking for ChatGPT, which is good. I love technology. I love AI. We are here today sharing all the AI possibilities to improve our clinical practice. But yeah, but the most important thing is this.
I agree with you and I'm glad you brought this up because a lot of time people's like, I'm just gonna do this myself. And I have a friend of mine, she just decided, oh, this guy's advertising some, a certain juice cleanse. Let me try this for a month. What do you think about juice cleanses for a month?
Juice, juice.
Yeah.
Let's, let's find what is your fruit. I would say, what is your fruit that you are, that you need? Did you have your intolerance tests, you know, before? It's like this, when you say personalize, when you say like, um, something that is, is good for your friend, that doesn't mean, doesn't mean, doesn't mean that it's good for you. Even, even if it's healthy. But because, you know, I, I'm healthy, doctor, I'm eating healthy, clean, I'm doing exercises, but I'm not getting the point.
Why?
We need to understand the metabolism. We need to understand the environment. We need to understand what type of food you're intaking, you know?
Yes.
Absolutely. And that's why one of my purposes in life is also teaching. So I have online course.
Amazing. Where can people find that? Yeah. What's the website?
You could be in my Instagram and my link in bio have all the programs that we have. Dr. Andrea Sanchez, Dr. Andrea Sanchez, and that's a schedule of online courses, but also hands-on courses in present and in regenerative medicine, but also precision medicine.
Is it for practitioners or for patients?
Both.
Amazing.
We have both options because also like people come to me, hey, how can I do this?
Yes.
I'm interested in the field. I said, okay, no, let's do it for physicians. We have like a certification from IARM, which is, I'm an ambassador for International Academy of Regenerative Medicine.
Love it.
Yeah. And also European Academy. We have also a spot in Europe.
Yeah. And I think this is also great for any dentist that's looking to go into the integrative world to really understand, uh, to be able to take a course like yours online.
Yeah. Course online, but also this kind of immersions that where they say like to connect.
To connect.
Could be like these immersions for a week that we have too, but also for a A wellness day.
Yes.
Immersion is also good to share.
Yes. Now, uh, this is the Holistic Dentistry Show, so I wanted to ask you about oral health.
Now we're time to— yes. Yes.
I love it. Do you look at all, do you feel oral health is important in if you're trying to achieve optimal health?
Oh my God. I really, basically, I don't know why people separate things. You know, we are the whole system. We need to understand every part of our body integrated. Everything's integrated. And again, where I came from, I came from a family who's a functional doctor. My, my father always teach me that because of his, he, he's an acupuncturist, so he learns this Chinese medicine and they teach me about every teeth are connection, are connected with our organ. So we need to understand, you know, preventive, protective before our health, vitamins to avoid a chronic disease.
Right? Absolutely. So do you look in the mouth or do you ask people a questionnaire about their oral health?
Yeah, this is part of my, my questions and anamnesis, but also I, I love to work with good professionals, good specialists, you know?
Yes.
Have partners like dentistry, also nutritionists, and it's important. For example, when you are creating these personalized programs and if I don't know something like very specifically, I just share it with another specialist, another expert. Yes. I think integrate is is this.
I, I agree 100%. Yeah. You need a team. As I'm treating patients, I also have teams of functional medicines that—
Yeah. Integrative work. Everyone do whatever they're specialized and we integrate one thing to the person.
Yes. Do you believe that oral health can reflect a deeper imbalance? Like if somebody has, let's say, gum disease, can that show something deeper? Yeah, for sure.
Basically, just remind me right now, I had the patient and he was like, I swear to you, more than one year, one year searching for a diagnostic. He has like a gastric, gastric reflux.
Acid reflux. Yeah. Perfect.
And we're searching for, searching for something and also genetic tests. We did all the metabolization of hormones, vitamins, but they're still searching for something and not feeling good. And then I just told him, hey, let's look perfectly at your mouth. And he has also a, yeah, gingivitis, periodontitis. Yeah.
Periodontitis. Yes. Which is a chronic infection of the bone affecting the gum.
You can share with me a little bit this?
Yeah. So I'm a periodontist actually. So periodontitis is a an infection with microbes that we know we can find deeper in the GI tract.
Okay.
And, but, but it's a systemic infection in the end, 'cause no infection in the body stays local.
Mm-hmm.
And that includes the, the periodontitis. Okay.
And are there many vitamins or something that can, uh, preventive? These are—
It's usually threefold. Oral hygiene is a big part of it.
Okay.
Usually it's the lack of flossing or water flossing. Secondly, it has to have a bacterial component. Okay. So bacterial component like P. gingivalis or Tannerella forsythia, which are just a few, like a spirochete infection. Okay. And the third one is environment. Stress, maybe. The patient had stress perhaps, and that exacerbates the other two issues. So if they have all the three, usually they have more advanced type of periodontitis. Yeah.
The stress for me, like I see every day in my clinical practice. That's why it's one of the first things that I Started? Cut sleep and stress, you know?
Yeah.
Because stress, you know, is, is the, the most important thing to start because achieving the hormone balance and the quality of life, sexual health, and especially for women.
Yes.
If you, we are not like, we know to release the stress, meditation, breath working, you know, grounding like this, you'll be so overwhelmed with all, all the activities that They are, they have, we have in our hands.
Basic things, but they're so important.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So lifestyle for me, and this is the basic medicine that we, we need to improve, you know, sunlight, uh, grounding, connect to ourselves, avoiding toxic substances and do the basics, you know, actually organizing, organizing the, the rhythm, circadian rhythm is a natural part Yeah.
So important circadian rhythm, especially here in Cannes, right? It's a little bit harder when you travel, but what is one of your tips when you travel? Yeah. Cause you're a world traveler and people have problem with that. So, so do you have any advice?
Yeah, a lot. Yeah. Basically what I would suggest is organize the first night. Yeah. Organize the time. Don't sleep. Okay. Need to, need to check the timetable, but hydration. Is very important. Okay. Basically because you are traveling and you stay more than 10 hours without, without exertion, the good one. So exercises is also good to balance the rhythm, the circadian. And also peptides could help. Yes. Yeah.
What's your favorite peptide for this?
Yeah. For this, MOTC is really good. MOTC because it gives energy to our mitochondria.
Amazing.
So I love to start treating patients from energy to give energy because if I I give energy to you and I guide you that you can create whatever you want, then you can manifest the best health, you know? So if you're tired, fatigue, lack of sleep, so you need to organize sleep, gut, and stress.
I love it.
If you have this, these pillars of health very well guided, peptides, nutrition. Yeah. What more?
Mm-hmm.
And also these choices from, uh, exercises. Yeah. To get muscles, for example, to get more strong. You can balance everything.
I love it. Sleep, gut, and stress. Now you're the founder of 11ness. Uh, tell us about 11ness.
Okay.
Yeah.
But before we are talking about numbers, so you know what means 11?
11:11. That's right.
Huh?
Yes.
What is 11?
Yeah.
I love, I love like physiology. I love stoicism. I love history, philosophy, and numerology. And when I was searching about a number, I was feeling my heart and say, okay, what is my clinical practice? I Do you do just science or more than that? No, I do science and I want to connect the spirituality part. So we are, we are this human being here living this experience in life, but we are quantic, we are frequencies. So I just create this number 11 to connect soul and science from being this nest to belong to. So 11:11 is just the, the name that I create what I've been doing from this 10 years of medicine. So basically we have 3 pillars. One pillar is telehealth.
Okay.
I love to call like home clinic when the clinics come to you.
Yes.
Yeah. You know, whatever you are, you have your clinic, you have your doctor in, in your hands.
It's perfect.
It's special because it is like there is no, uh, landed, um, barrier. So, and the second pillar is the emergence. What is emergence? Is the word where we can connect to other doctors. To the certification about courses in precision biohacking, regenerative medicine, but also this experience to share of lifestyle, you know, in person. And the third pillar, uh, is the Wellness Club, like a membership club. So the people that are connected in this community, we create this space to share like a community.
Yes. And community is so important, especially today with everybody being separated through social media.
Exactly. It was why I came here. Basically, I was focused on that, to create more special moments with people that are talking the same thing and create these moments of connection, you know, with people.
Yeah.
And work in the same business or something. In this kind of connection, when you are one-on-one, right here, right now, look into your eyes, two feet on the ground, grounding. This is like a kind of medicine, you know?
Absolutely.
So that's why I truly believe in this project. Biohacker yourself, because we are all in the same purpose to share our knowledge and experience, right?
Absolutely. And we're going to put the information to 11S down in the show notes below. Okay. Where can people find you on Instagram?
Yeah, you can find me in Dr. Andrea Sanchez, which is D-R-A Andrea Sanchez with S.
Okay, great. We're going to put that in the show notes as well. Thank you very much for being a guest on the show today.
