Here is the 3 kinds of people that really struggle to lose weight. Hi, I'm Dr. Shilpa Sayana. I'm an internist and functional medicine MD, practicing for over 15 years. People going through transitions like perimenopause to menopause transitions, they can really struggle with weight loss resistance, generally because as those hormones go down, insulin goes up, causing insulin resistance, leading to weight gain. The second group are people who have inflammation, especially the gut. So if you're inflamed, you're less likely to drop any weight because your body's holding on to all those calories. And then the third group of people who have a lot of toxins, and toxins mimic hormones, they mess up the endocrine signaling, and hence you hold on to a lot of body fat. One thing that can help all of these three groups is just eating more fiber, at least getting 30 to 40 grams of fiber, and that would address each of these groups. Follow for more.
