Nataliey Bitature argues that growth and comfort can't coexist. You have to do uncomfortable things like public speaking or starting a company until they feel normal, then move to the next hard thing. That cycle of discomfort is what progress actually is.

Comfort and growth cannot coexist. It's like how you can't be angry and grateful at the same time. Growth is important because one of the definitions of human happiness is progress. You have to be able to feel satisfied in your life and satisfied that as you're moving forward, you're achieving your goals. Things are changing on your terms in a positive way. And the way to do that is to grow. But you can't grow if you're in your comfort zone. If you're doing something the same way all the time, and you're used to your routine and your lifestyle and your position and what you're doing, it means you're not growing, you're in the comfort zone. If something scares you or challenges you, or you feel uncomfortable when you're doing it, that means you're growing. If you keep doing that thing that makes you uncomfortable, soon you will become comfortable doing it. That means you've grown, which means now you need to push to the next goal, to push yourself further so that you can continue to grow. Even if it's something small, like public speaking, or speaking up in the office with a different idea, or starting a company. If you feel uncomfortable, lean into it. Means you're growing.
