Chiropractic Coaching Tips | 4 Ways to Create a Great Day

Dr. Vince Leone outlines a four-step daily framework for chiropractors: a 70-minute morning routine with hydration, gratitude, journaling, meditation, reading, and cardio; nutrition that progresses from light to heavy meals; a midday reset in a quiet space; and an evening wind-down with family time, goal review, and a 10 p.m. bedtime for 7-8 hours of sleep.

Hey everyone, Dr. Vince Leone here with Dr. Vince Presents with episode 18, 4 Ways to a Great Day for Chiropractors. So let's dig in. Hey guys, welcome back. Thank you again so much for tuning in. Today's episode is 4 ways to create a great day for chiropractors. And first of all, let's talk about why is this important. Well, for a couple reasons, right? First, we want to— you know, great life is built up of great years, which then are compiled of great months, then great weeks, and great days. And so we need to actively create a plan so that we can have the You know, best day possible, have the most productive day possible, have the highest energy possible. And all that is going to have a positive effect on our patients, our patient experience, our outcomes, and then of course personally, and then professionally as a practice, you know, in our practice. So it's hugely important. And so if we don't take control of this, someone else will, whether it's the media or text messages or notifications or the radio or websites. Like, everyone will try to dictate your day. They want you to buy this or follow that or all that type of stuff. So we need to actively take control of it and have a plan. So let's go ahead and dig right in. And just really quick before that, if you're not a subscriber, go ahead and subscribe. And then also, if you're looking for some training to improve your practice, highly recommend you go to www.leoneconsulting.co. That is the DC Micro MBA. I created this 3-video lesson series. It's free, which is always cool. Just put in your name and email and you're going to get 3 video lessons on mindset, marketing, and systems. And those should absolutely be able to boost your productivity and your profitability by 25% if you implement. So go check that out. I think it will be highly worth your time. So let's dive in. We got 4 ways to create a great day. For chiropractors, number 1, create a great morning routine. And this is huge, guys, because it's just, you know, it literally could be the most important part of the day. There's a book I'd recommend that you check out if you are, you know, want to kind of get into this even more called Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. But he kind of lays it out really good. But first of all, I recommend giving yourself 70 minutes, okay? Dr. Vince, why 70 minutes? Okay, so the reason why is because the bulk of our morning routine is gonna take 60 minutes, and then so we wanna have 70 minutes as 10 minutes of essentially transition time, that type of thing. So wake up, pound water, 20 ounces of cold, clean, filtered water at least. Let's get that hydration going. While you're doing that, give gratitude, just silently. Thank you for three things. I'm look, I thank God. I'm a Christian. Whoever your maker is, it doesn't matter. But just give gratitude. Give gratitude to the universe of all the great things that you have. Whether it's your family, your practice, your patients, your house, your car, your health. Just give thanks, right? The more we give thanks, the more we focus on that's what grows. Okay? The more we bitch about things, hey, that'll grow too. So don't focus on problems. Focus on. Good things in your life. So that's number 1, just give thanks, get some water in your system. Number 2, get your goals. So you should have a journal, and I recommend writing down your goals every single morning and just kind of have 3 to 5 big goals. There's a book called Scaling Up by Verne Harnish, very good book, and he talks about creating this BHAG goal, so Big Hairy Achievable Goal. So that would be like a 3 to 5 year goal. So maybe it's I want my practice to make $50,000 a month. So that's a big goal in the future, or maybe $100,000 a month, whatever it is. But that's your business goal, and then you chunk it back, okay? All the way back to this quarter. So we're in, you know, what, we're in January right now. So by April 1st, where do you want your revenue to be if we're gonna chunk it back from that? So I wanna be at $20,000 a month. So that would be one of your goals. You can, you know, put goals into 3 categories. Health, wealth, and personal, family, that type of stuff. And just pick one or create one or two of those goals in each of those categories and write it down, 'cause you're gonna be focusing on that, you're gonna be working towards that. That's why we do what we do, right? So that we can build a better life for ourselves and our families. So that's goals. It should take about 10 minutes. Next, meditate or pray or just get quiet for 10 minutes. And some of the biggest Most successful people in the world right now are just so enthusiastic and supportive of meditation. I think it's Ray Dalio, this massive investor, he meditates twice a day. There's some really great apps on the phones. Calm is one, Simple Habits another. They all have free options. It's literally 5 to 10 minutes of guided meditation. Think about it. They even have series to focus on different types of things and just shut everything else out, focus on the breath, and just go through that. And it's super valuable. So I highly recommend that. So 10 minutes on meditation or praying or just getting quiet with yourself. Next, reading. Look, readers are leaders. Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Star of the Shark Tank show, which is my favorite TV show on the planet. He carves out 3 hours a day. The dude has like 300 companies and he carves out 3 hours a day. Bill Gates says that the one thing that he cherishes the most is reading. If he had a superpower, it would be to read faster. Warren Buffett, everybody. Readers are leaders. It's hands down. You have to— if you're going to be, if you're going to be an influence to your patients, if you're going to essentially You know, grow your practice well above what, you know, 95% of the doctors out there are doing, you have to differentiate yourself. The way you do that is by gaining more knowledge. And so I'd recommend, you know, dividing book categories up into health, you know, so that you can stay at the top of your game and then share that with your patients. Business, marketing, and then for me, like personal stuff, right? For me, it's parenting. I have 2 daughters, Gemma and Sienna, 8 and 4. Good Lord, I'm building up my gun collection. But the point being, Raising daughters is different than raising boys. I want to be the best father I can, so I read books about raising daughters and how to understand them because sometimes it can be a little challenging. That's okay. So that's reading, 20 minutes on reading, right? So we got 10 minutes on goals, 10 minutes on meditation, 20 minutes on reading, and then 30 minutes of exercise, okay? And then whatever that may be for you, I would, you know, I don't need to tell you how to exercise. Personally, I just primarily do cardio. I get 30 minutes on the treadmill, put that incline up to about 5, and just do a fast walk. So, because I'm more into the cardio versus, you know, like the calorie burn, I'm not super concerned with that. I want that cardio every day. And I would say exercise every day, right? You know, look, the days I don't exercise, that's, that's when I'm not feeling at my best. So That is step number 1, create a morning routine. Get your day off on the right foot, so important. Number 2, feed your body, right? As chiropractors, we know what we put in is what we get out, right? So we need to put in the right stuff. There's a book by Kimberly Snyder, she's a certified nutritionist, and it's like the beauty detox book. I didn't actually buy this one, my wife bought it, but the point being, she had some good thoughts in there. One, going light to heavy, right? So light In the morning, medium at lunch, and then heavier at dinner. And the idea being is that you, like the heavy at the end of the day, your body's gonna have all night to process that. It's not gonna have any other food in its system, right? In the morning, you know, we want to, we don't need a ton, or at least, I mean, I personally don't need a ton. I have literally a smoothie and then I have a banana and that's it. So, you know, feed our body right. Start off with a smart smoothie. I like Athletic Greens. That's great powdered green drink. So good. Get a lot of vitamins and nutrients. I don't get paid to promote them, but a really great product. It's like, it's not cheap. It's like $80 a month. But look, it's my body. It's my health. I feel it's important enough to invest in it. So feed your body right. Start off light. Lunch, salads, keep it light. Find an organic store, restaurant, whatever in your area that has a big organic salad bar. Just pile it on, have a good healthy dressing, and boom. The reason why that, in my opinion, is on our afternoon shift, say we went and ate a cheeseburger, which sounds gross to me, but if you eat a cheeseburger at lunch, good Lord, what's your energy gonna be like at 4? Terrible, right? Because your body's trying to process all that meat and all that crap. So, and look, I'm not going to get into nutrition and, uh, per se, but you know, the research is out there on animal protein. I just read a research article on eggs— terrible. I mean, like, direct correlation with colon cancer and all kinds of crazy stuff. So I definitely stopped eating eggs. But, um, you know, the closer we can be to a plant-based diet, uh, again, Watch some documentaries, read some research, Forks Over Knives, What the Health, Food Inc., all this type of stuff. I mean, the information is out there. It's just a matter of whether, you know, people are reading it. Most people aren't. And again, you go with the pack, you get what the pack gets. You go with the minority and you get really the better outcomes that the minority gets. So, that's feed your body right and then dinner, just have a smart dinner, you know. I mean, but that's when you can You know, have a little heavier and all that type of stuff. So feeding our body right, obviously direct correlation with our energy level and, you know, our mood for sure. I mean, good Lord. So we have to have that energy and that great mood when we're delivering patient care so that they can have the best outcomes, best experience, and they'll tell their friends and family about us. Next, midday check-in. By and large, we're gonna get a curveball or two throughout the day. You know, yesterday I got one from my mother-in-law that I don't even want to talk about because it pissed me off so much. But the point being is you'll get those curveballs. So, and whether you get them or not, midday check-in. And I recommend this right after lunch. Get somewhere quiet. Either, you know, if you're going out to lunch, stay in your car. You know, usually at the office it's gonna be tough. You got the phones ringing and emails and staff and patients, all that type of stuff. So maybe just go out in your car, go into a park, go for a walk, whatever. Get somewhere quiet. Meditate again or just get quiet. Just think, just reflect, just center, push all that other crap out there and focus on yourself. Okay, on these episodes, I always focus on mindset, marketing, or systems. This is on a fully mindset category and self-care. The better we take care of ourselves, the better we can take care of our family, our patients, our finances, everything. So we got to take care of ourselves first. Self-care. Care every single day. It's critical. You put a focus— again, what you focus on grows. Focus on self-care, you're going to grow. That's what we want. So that's step number 3, midday check-in. This is critical because if you let it go, like, so you have a really good morning, you're eating right, you get that curveball or just start to get overwhelmed or it's just crazy, you just need a reset midday. Okay, this is the biggest kind of— this is the one thing I haven't seen anyone else talk about, frankly, is that midday reset. Okay, and as you know, look, there's sometimes there's patients on the books that you're like, oh, and then, or sometimes someone's just coming in and they're just, you know, it's serious, right? And it kind of throws you off a little bit, changes your energy, sets you back, sets you off, whatever. So After lunch, in prep for that afternoon shift, reset. Okay, that's number 3. Then wrap up strong. Now, so I get home around 6:30 to 7:00. When I get home, the phone goes away. From that time until my girls' bedtime, I'm all in on family time, okay? So I don't do anything else but, you know, dinner, you know, get ready for bed, read, homework, all that type of stuff. I want to be present for them. Get off the phone, guys. There's there's a new thing right now that they're saying kids are are like you know essentially the parents are looking at the phone, the kids like dad dad dad dad. Geez, I see this with my wife. Like mom mom mom mom. I'm like shut up! It's it drives me nuts because they need us. They don't have us all day, and when we're at home, put the damn phone down. For an hour and a half, okay? And look, if you already do this, great, good on you. But most people are not. And I don't mean to preach, but our kids need us, okay? They don't have that much— if we're working all day, they don't have that much time with us, okay? So when we're home with them, be present. So put the phone away, get involved. Now, if you don't have kids, then you're good to go. But the point being, for me, when I get home, that is set aside. And it's all for, uh, for the family time. So then once they're down, then it's back to you. Okay, back to me. We want to wrap up strong. Let's, let's not go watch TV. Okay, average person's watching 3 to 5 hours a day. I don't know where the hell they get this time to watch all this TV. I mean, do they not have jobs? I don't get it. Anyways, no TV. I watch literally football and Shark Tank, sometimes Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but, um, you know, if, if If it ain't football, then I'm not watching much TV. Shark Tank, love Shark Tank, but what I usually do is just put it on the DVR and then I pound through them on Sunday. So, here we go. Turn off the TV, review your goals. Take 10 minutes and review your goals. We have to take control of our mind, take control of our focus on what we want versus what we don't want. Review the goals and then go listen to an uplifting podcast, right? Wrap up your day strong on an uplifting note. If you're Christian, Joel Osteen has a really good podcast. If you want to do business stuff, 10x Talk with Joe Polish and Dan Sullivan is very good. Mike Dillard has a Self-Made Man podcast for guys, very, very good. Lewis Howes, there's tons of them out there, right? Find one that you really like that's uplifting, that gives you positive messages, positive things to focus on, positive things to do. You can even listen to my podcast, right? So the point being is, do that right before bed and then boom, you're out. Be in bed by 10, right? We want to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep, right? So get it, get early, get to bed early so you can wake up early. And dude, if you do this, if you have this plan for your day, what do you think the chances are you're going to have a better outcome versus no plan? Obviously much more likely. Okay, so guys, that's it. 4 steps. 4 ways to create a great day. Create a morning routine, feed your body, midday check-in, and then wrap it up strong. Okay, so I hope this was helpful for you.
