Eckhart Explains The Title "A New Earth"

Eckhart Tolle explains why he called his book A New Earth. He describes it as symbolic: a new consciousness emerging in humans will transform the outer world, drawing on biblical imagery of spiritual renewal.
The New Earth. I'm writing a little bit more these days and that may turn into a book. It seems the provisional title is A New Earth. But it's only a provisional title, A New Earth. Of course the words come from the Bible. They appear in the book of Revelations, which also called the Apocalypse, which tells you about everything collapsing. The whole man made order of things collapsing. That's what it is about symbolically. And then when it's all collapsed, the writer says, and I saw a new heaven and a new earth, out of the collapsed world rises a new world. So that's in a way where the title comes from. A new Earth. And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. That's what it says. And the way I see that is a new heaven is a new consciousness that is arising. This is causal in humans. It's the transformation of human consciousness. It's the inner heaven is the inner world. A new earth is the outer manifestation of the transformed consciousness. So the question and what of the new earth? The answer to that is we don't need to be concerned about the new earth. All we need to be concerned about is the new heaven. And that's why we are here. Because heaven is the inner. The inner transformation of consciousness, the outer, the externalization of that as it a different world that humans create. Once the shift has happened, that is obvious that politically, economically, socially, in every respect, the structures, the man made structures, and even the buildings and the cities and so on will be very different from that which the egoic consciousness creates. So our gathering here is the arising of a new heaven. The inner. The rest comes automatically.
