This is a YouTube video titled "Eckhart Tolle Now: The Source of Satisfaction" containing a spoken presentation or talk by Eckhart Tolle from February 23, 2016. The content discusses how people's emotional states are influenced by external situations, using weather as an example to illustrate how labeling experiences can lead to negative thought patterns.
It rains one day and they go, oh, what a miserable day. Next day it's sunny. Oh, it's sunny. That means you are under the situation. You're not above the situation, you're under it. The situation controls you. And I've given them the simplest possible example. But even that happens very commonly. So especially if you live in London or Seattle or Vancouver, where it rains quite a lot. Then if you are dependent to some extent even on the weather for feeling good or not good, then that's what happens. But you will notice when you look out of the window, the real pain comes with saying, what a miserable day the rain is. Nothing in itself, it just is. But you call it something. And it's not just a middle day, it's another miserable day. And the moment you have used the thought miserable, it connects to other things in your life that you can also call miserable. And there we go. That's the beginning of a day, and that's the beginning of a storyline in your head.
