This is a YouTube video titled "Mastery Of Life, Australia Retreat - Part Two" containing a spiritual teaching or lecture recorded on December 10, 2015. The speaker discusses the concepts of 'doing' and 'becoming' versus 'being,' emphasizing the importance of present moment awareness and balance in life. The content is reflective and philosophical, focusing on personal growth and mindfulness.
So on the level of doing or becoming, there are certain things still perhaps that you want to achieve. There are maybe certain things that you want to become. You might be at right now, you might be engaged in learning this or that, music or some, whatever, some science, some skills, whatever it is, dance, engineering, astronomy, astrology. You can't immediately be a master at that. That involves becoming and it involves doing. So you're not complete on the level of becoming yet. And that level of doing and becoming is one part of life. The emphasis in this teaching is not on becoming, not because I reject becoming, but because what the world needs more at this time because the balance is totally lost. What the world needs more is the awareness of being, the being awareness so that a balance can happen in the world, whereas most of the world is lost in becoming and doing. Go to any big city and they are all running around, they're all becoming. Now it might be for a few years, it might be exhilarating, but then a frustration sets in and your body begins to suffer and become ill. You constantly achieve the next thing. Part of becoming is what I often describe as always the next thing. Never this, this is never fully acknowledged because the full acknowledgement of the present moment belongs to the being realm. So a person who is constantly engaged in becoming does not can never fully acknowledge the present moment because he or she is always running away from the present moment. And there is, of course, there needs to be the balance between, yes, you are going somewhere, you have a life goal, or either a huge life goal or a limited life goal. Like you want to learn this or that subject, you have that life goal. But as you pursue that goal, whatever it is, are you losing continuously the present moment? So you no longer. You're never comfortable with the isness of the present moment. You never see the. Except perhaps for brief glances, you never see the beauty around you and the aliveness. There's never a full appreciation of. Of the miraculous nature of life that is always around you. That's because you're too absorbed in becoming.
