This short YouTube talk (by Elay Amitay Halevi) reframes the "evil eye" as often self-generated: habitual complaining broadcasts and solidifies personal struggles, inviting others' judgment and strengthening negativity. The speaker argues that complaints do more than vent — they script failure and attract corroborating judgment — and prescribes replacing complaints with gratitude, solution-focused language, and protective affirmations (sample mantra provided).

Most people think evil eye comes from other people's jealousy and judgments when they are negatively directed at you. And that is true. But what if I told you that our own words might be the strongest form of evil eye in our own lives? Complaining doesn't just vent frustration, it actually amplifies it. Every time we are complaining, we are not just expressing how we feel. We are broadcasting our struggles to the world. We are saying, here's what's wrong with me. Here's where I'm failing. Here's where I feel small and actually am small. Guess what happens then? People will judge what we give them permission to judge. When you complain about your relationships, people will start questioning your relationships. When you talk about your problems over and over, people will start agreeing with your struggle and they will solidify these struggles in your life. You're not just describing your life when you're complaining. You're actually feeding the judgment, feeding the negativity, feeding the doubt, and strengthening the very evil eye that we want to avoid. So how do you break this cycle? You stop writing the script for your own destruction. Instead of saying, nothing ever works out for me, we can say, I trust that things are aligning for me. Instead of saying I'm always struggling, we could say, abundance flows towards me easily. Here's a mantra for you. I replace complaints with gratitude. I focus on solutions, not problems. I speak only words that expand my blessings and protect my path.
