Dr. Emmett Miller guides you through a meditation for sleep by focusing on your breath and letting go of past and future. He describes the experience as settling into loving arms, moving you toward deep, restorative sleep you control.
This moment, now.
Nor does the future exist, since no one could ever possibly know for certain anything that is to come. The past and future do not exist, only now. As if the past is but a book of stories, close that book and put it on a shelf in the library far away in the back of your mind. And leave that library. Close the door securely, lock it, and come back down that long hall to here, here and now. This moment, the only moment you can know now, knowing only this breath, this peaceful rising and falling of your chest with each breath in and out, and letting go of everything else as you let yourself sink deeply into the peace and tranquility of this moment, as if settling into loving arms. Soothing, gentle, relaxing peace. And at any moment, you can let go and drift into a deep, soothing sleep. And sleep restfully until the time you really want to awaken, and will awaken refreshed and energized, perhaps allowing sleep now.
