This functionality is going to blow you away, so watch to the end and put an exclamation point on your AI-amplified legal skills. AI power tips for lawyers, tip number 1. Here we go. ChatGPT Plus. If you are using ChatGPT, you need to be on the paid version. It's $20 a month. Let's take a look at what I am using in terms of GPT. You can see here that you can go to your name and you can go to My Plan and you could go to Settings. So let's take a look at these. My Plan— I am a GPT Plus user, $20 a month. This helps me get privacy, data privacy, as a result of my use and gets me faster responses. You're going to see in a minute we also use the API. That's very important in order to maximize your privacy. In order to understand the theme settings, you can go here, uh, data controls. You can clear your chat history, and that will preclude them from using your chat history as part of a training model. And so if you are concerned about the information that you're inputting into ChatGPT, you need to go to this new tool here and say toggle this off. You do not want to save new chats or your history. You do not want to allow ChatGPT to use your chat prompts and answers as part of training. For power users is to register with openai.com and get an account with OpenAI, and the OpenAI account is going to put you into this area here, and it is going to allow you to do a number of things. You can see the documentation. You'll be able to get an API, which you will use for all the other tools that we're going to be talking about. So you must have an OpenAI account, you must have a secret key, and you're going to see we're going to visit the API keys page to retrieve our secret key. You can get them easily, and then you're just going to pay for all tokens used through the API. It's super cheap, almost nothing. And this is going to allow you not only to plug into all these great tools I'm going to show you about— your account settings here, you're going to manage your account, you're going to view your API keys, you're going to invite team members. So if you're a company, you need a single login and you're going to invite all the people on your team, all your employees or executives to use this single account that'll be paid for, all the tokens paid for by the company. But you want to control the use of the API keys. You want to make sure everyone in your company is operating through the API for data privacy reasons. Identify your members, who in your organization is going to have access to the API key. You're going to set up your billing so that it can charge you. Set up your payment method, and then you're going to be able to get either through here your API keys or the sidebar. And I'm going to be, um, blocking this, uh, so that you can't see these secret keys. Uh, you want to keep these keys extremely secret. Do not let anyone else know what they are. All right, and, uh, you can create a new secret key by clicking this button here. And, uh, testing. You need to copy this number. You need to copy this number so that, uh, this will— this— you need to copy this series of letters and numbers and put it in a private place because you're going to be keeping it secret. You don't want anyone else to have it, but you will be sharing it with your team members. So you can copy it there and then you're ready to go. Okay, and I can then delete that and revoke that key. So what do I do with this, this, this new great API key that gets me data security? AI Power Tips for Lawyers, tip number 2, ChatGPT Sidebar. You know, my favorite tool thus far is ChatGPT Sidebar. For GPT Plus users, meaning you have to be a $20 a month user of ChatGPT, which you do here. My plan— you— I'm already upgraded, but if you weren't, you can manage your subscriptions and go ahead and put in your credit card. And now you are going to be a Plus subscriber. If you are a Plus subscriber, then you can then download, uh, this sidebar. It's going to be an extension on your Chrome browser. Uh, and, um, you will see it, uh, here. See where it is— ChatGPT Sidebar. You want to pin that so that it's always up here. Now, what can you do with ChatGPT Sidebar? And the answer is lots of different things. Um, let's just go ahead and take a look at an example. So here is an email from my wife who's pretending to be a client. Dear Enrico, I'd like to schedule a call. We are rebranding our business and I need to talk to you about a proposed business name and how we protect it as a trademark. Regards. So I can go here and I can pull up my sidebar, and let me go ahead and clear some of this out. And now I've got all these pre-written prompts in the sidebar that have all the prompt logic built into them. And don't worry, I'm going to show you how to build custom prompt logic into these different prompts so that they're ready for you to use beyond just the generic ones. So I've got a custom, uh, prompt called Rewrite, and you're going to see that the prompt logic's already baked in. Pretend you're a lawyer responding to a client's email. Consider the prior emails for context before proposing an improved response. That is professional and engaging. So what am I going to do? I'm going to take Reham's email here. It's going to automatically plug it in here. And now in order to trigger this prompt logic up here— pretend you're a lawyer, improve this email— I'm just going to hit submit. And so now the SidebarGPT tool is going to provide me a typically a, a cut and paste without much, if any, editing. Beautiful email back to Reham that is way more than what I would spend time drafting. And so take a look at this. Dear Reham, thank you for reaching out to me regarding your business rebranding and your need to protect your proposed business name as a trademark. I am happy to assist you with this matter. I would love to schedule a call with you so we can discuss this further. Please let me know what your dates and times work best for you, and I will do my best to accommodate your schedule. I actually have a Calendly link I'm going to insert here. In the meantime, please gather any relevant documents or information you think might be helpful. This may include previous trademarks, business names, or logos that you have used in the past. Please thank you for choosing our firm. Thank you for using our firm, Enrico. So look at this is way better than what it is that I would have come up with. Okay, so, uh, I'm just going to cut and paste this in into the email. I'm going to take the sidebar and collapse it here. Instead of having, um, I would love to schedule a call, I'm going to go ahead and use my Calendly, which is a great tool, uh, link insert there. So now there's the Calendly link. And now this email is ready to go, drafted by AI perfectly for this client response. And you can do this across client emails. You can create a prompt that's a response to an adversary's email that is not professional and engaging but potentially is cautious and aggressive, whatever it is that you want. So great tool that you can use for any email responses. And you can go ahead and send that. But, but look at the sidebar, does lots more. But before getting on to some of the other power tips for this GPT sidebar, I want to show you how to customize these prompts. All right, so if you go to the sidebar and you go down to here to the little gear setting and you go to settings it's going to pull up the customization that you can do for your GPT sidebar. And obviously you can, you can set it as a sidebar, what, uh, web app. Um, okay, I'm going to insert my API key. All right, and if I have a GPT-4 API key, which I don't yet, I'm hoping for, I can actually change that out. So now I get to use my own API key, which is going to be more stable, and it's going to charge based on usage. So that's, that's fine. Now here's the key, and go to the sidebar link. I'm going to scroll down, and here are the prompt templates for the sidebar. Now I've archived a bunch that came with the sidebar because I want specific templates that do specific things. I'm going to insert this prompt language into the description so you've got it available to you. So let's take a look at some of the prompt language that I'm using for my sidebar. You can edit it here. So rewrite says, pretend you're a lawyer responding to a client's email. Consider the prior emails for context before proposing an improved response that is professional and engaging. So that is the one that we just used in my Gmail example to rehash. I've got another one called Expand on This Text. You are an innovative lawyer with expertise in technology company representation and IP law. I want you to improve and expand on this text. Let's take a look at how that works. So, as interviewed by, uh, ALM, and so let's just go ahead and take a look at this paragraph here. I'm going to open my sidebar here. Take a look at what this AI is going to generate by way of a response. Instead of 4 sentences, you're going to get several beautiful paragraphs to expand on this information. Now, it could be that I'm sending a client email and I need to tell them a little bit about trademark registration, but look at this this beautiful output here that I could put into it. Now I'm going to continue. There's 2 buttons here. There's Ask and there's Chat. I'm going to continue in Chat. I want to be a little shorter, and you're going to see it's going to go ahead and summarize that into 2 paragraphs. In terms of generating content and information to clients, to adversaries, to team members, to everyone, ChatGPT is a tool that we have never seen before in history. All right, we just covered 3 power tips for lawyers on how to use AI in your everyday practice of law, but I did promise you at the beginning of this video that I was going to give you this amazing bonus tip. And so GPT Sidebar has a new feature that deals with PDF analysis, and it is awesome. All right, I want to talk next about a tool called Chat PDF. Go ahead and click on that. This is all-in-one tool. So Chat PDF lets you AI read PDF documents. This is going to summarize what this document is all about. And you click on this link, what is the claimant's motion about? It gives you this answer here. Tells you really specific information about this particular motion. You can ask it, what did— what orders did Airbnb fail to comply with? And it's going to tell you Airbnb failed to comply with the discovery order related to interrogatory number 3, which asked Airbnb to identify all personnel involved in the decisions by Airbnb to include the word endemic in the ECP. Additionally, Airbnb did not provide responses to 3F, 3G, and 3H, which requests all emails. So the amount of time saved, the ability to summarize, the ability to ask anything about this particular document in an AI chatbot is powerful. And keep in mind, this could be a very long document. So you can see how the sidebar PDF has a range of tools That is just incredibly powerful for you as an attorney. That's all for today. My name is Enrico. I'm a technology attorney.
