Enrico Schaefer explains how AI agents can automate law firm work like client intake and document gathering, tasks paralegals usually handle. OpenAI's new agents can retrieve information, take actions, and follow up with clients automatically. Firms that build these systems will gain an edge.

If you've been watching this channel, you already know I've been saying this one thing: ChatGPT is getting feature-rich, and that means it's getting more complex with memory, with tools, with functions, custom GPTs, agents, connectors, threading. To get real value, you need to have real skill, and scaling your output with AI requires scaling your AI expertise— not just prompts, but strategies across the entire toolset. And now it's more important than ever because AI agents are finally here. And if you want to systematize workflows inside your law firm using agents, you need to understand how they work. Not just know how to build them, but know what's possible. So here's the truth. Lawyers who dig in and learn how this tech works will lead the AI age. This isn't just a trend. It's It's a new professional skill set, and it will define the winners and the ones left behind. If you saw OpenAI's recent developer conference, they launched AI agents and Agent Builder. And what agents are is they not only have chat feature, but then they do things. They access information. They take action. They retrieve information. They provide information. They can do things like, well, go out on a client that is a new client, and you can design them to go get all the background information you need from that client. Have the client upload all the background documents. Literally actively go out and work with that client to get the stuff that you need to get from them that you usually send by email. Go back and forth. Is it complete? The AI agent will know if it's complete. The AI agent will continue to prompt them to provide more. And if something's missing or something's suggested by something they've uploaded, they're going to ask if something else exists. So, that's an example of something that lawyers do every day, right, that now can be done by an agent. What about client intake? So, you've got these prospective clients who are contacting you. You can have the agent identify the priority clients and go out and recontact them, provide them more information, ask if they've got any questions. Potentially answer their questions. So there's literally thousands of different things that you can be doing with these AI agents on workflows that you're handling that are low-level tasks that maybe you can assign to a paralegal, but now you can assign to an agent. There are thousands and thousands of things you do every week that can be systematized, that can be assigned to an agent. That is the future. And if your law firm is building these agents, you're going to be more efficient, you're going to have better client service. My name is Enrico. We'll see you next time. Thank you.
