2023 LinkedIn customer acquisition secrets

Eric Siu shares three ways to find clients on LinkedIn: post spiky opinions (one generated 420,000 impressions), DM prospects with a custom insight instead of a pitch (he closed a $17,000 deal this way), and target your top 100 accounts with $10-$20 daily video ads. Only 2% of LinkedIn users post, so high-impact content cuts through.

If you want more clients, LinkedIn is the place to be. Why? Because Microsoft has to make the most of its acquisition of LinkedIn, and only 2% of LinkedIn users actually post. So they want users to post more. So the first thing that you need to do is actually post but have a spiky point of view. And what a spiky point of view means is that you have a point of view that is somewhat controversial. That way you're going to get people to engage with you. So here's an example of this. Recently I did a post on if you should try to measure everything in marketing. So I asked a question over here. And then I wrote a story on, you know, how marketing used to work. And then I put in a quote over here and I just said, the problem is you can't try to measure everything in marketing, right? Then I just put agree or disagree just to try to cause a conversation. And then I posted a picture of a tweet and this post did well. I mean, it clearly struck a chord. So 5,500 people, they liked it, 256 comments, 251 shares, right? And you have 420,000 impressions on it. And this was done completely free. No paid media was put towards it. So when you think about this, what this actually does is that if you have, you know, 1 or 2 of these hits per month on LinkedIn, then you can very quickly drive a couple hundred thousand impressions or maybe even over a million impressions or so. And what that means for you is that you're going to have more people that are aware of what you do. And then also just making sure that you have a title that makes sense, right? So you can see when I posted here, founder at growth marketing agency Single Grain. So they're constantly getting those impressions over and over. If you're constantly posting, they are going to see Single Grain over and over and over. And what does this person do exactly? And then, you know, at a certain point it's like, okay, if they want to work with the ad agency that I have, then they can go ahead and reach out, right? They can check out the website, they can fill out a form, whatever it is exactly. I also want I want people to understand this. LinkedIn is really good because you can get so much reach right now. Like our site gets a couple hundred thousand visits a month, but it's hard for it to compound and get as much organic reach as LinkedIn, for example. This is why it's great. The other thing I want to call out is that our sales team actually DMs people. So they DM prospects or they DM leads. They're not saying, hey, like I'd like to jump on a call. Here are all the things that we can do. If you think about yourself receiving that message, how likely are you to respond to that? Hey, here are all the things that we do. And let me also take your time. So A, like let me talk about me and then B, let me also take 30 minutes of your time as well. That's a pretty good offer, huh? Versus if you make an offer around, hey, I have some insights around your business. Here are the things that you should be doing. Let me know if you want to chat on it, right? And now you can actually invoke curiosity because you did something that's personal to them and something that aligns with their interests. And then they're much more likely to talk to you after that. And that's actually worked well. I think recently the team closed a deal that's about $17,000 in recurring revenue. Now, the third thing is that aim for creating a Dream 100. So this is written by the late Chet Holmes. And so Chet Holmes wrote a book called The Ultimate Sales Machine, and The Ultimate Sales Machine is great. Part of the reasons is because it talks about this concept of the Dream 100. And in the Dream 100, these are the Dream 100 clients that you want to go after. Let's say you're a marketing agency. You can make a couple of videos that are maybe 5 to 10 minutes long, and maybe you spend, you know, $10, $20 a day or so targeting people that are on their marketing teams and target the CEO as well and then get their attention, right? Because even one insight in there, one gold nugget in there is going to go the distance. So I would recommend that if you make the video, the first tip that you provide is the most valuable one because people have very limited attention span. So these are just 3 things that you can do to get clients on LinkedIn. But getting clients on LinkedIn is just one thing. If you actually want to grow your follower account on LinkedIn, then check out this next video that I made over here. It's going to help you, it's going to guide you, and we'll see you in that video.
