These are 3 lessons from a book that will make you a lot more money as an individual or a business owner. So the book is called Why Greatness Cannot Be Planned. The reality is, from this book, when you look at how humans were created, we were just little, you know, cells before, little bacterias, right? And then we became the organisms that we are now. You look at electricity, nobody knew that electricity would be used in the way that it's being used now. They happen not necessarily in a sequence. Things build on each other, but you never know. It never exactly goes in a straight line, right? That is the point with your life or business as well. Nothing ever happens in a straight line. You got to just make sure that you are looking at everything as a stepping stone. And that is how business works. And so business never goes in a straight line. It's always like a roller coaster. You're kind of just going up and down. And one of the key things to also know from this book is that you could have metrics, but having too many metrics will lead to tunnel vision. So for example, if you say all we want to do is we want to be profitable business, a profitable business, well, you can be a profitable business by cutting a lot. But what ends up happening is you're so focused on that that you lose track, you lose sight of growth. And also similar to the point around stepping stones, life is about experimenting. It's about taking risks. And you never know what's going to happen. And so for example, a couple years ago, I decided to experiment with Brazilian jiu-jitsu, or I decided to experiment with tennis, for example. Some things maybe I like, some things maybe I don't like. It's the same thing with business. I've experimented with so many different business ideas, and that helps me hone in on what I should be focusing more on.
