In this solo presentation, Eric Siu outlines eight marketing roles that are in high demand for 2022 and beyond, explaining what each role entails, why it matters, and how it fits into modern marketing strategies. He begins with community managers, highlighting their growing importance for retention, brand evangelism, and even NFT promotion, citing examples like Gary Vee’s VeeFriends and Tom Bilyeu’s Impact Theory NFTs. He then moves to content creators, stressing the need for platform‑specific expertise (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, etc.) and the shift away from generic repurposing. Siu affirms SEO’s enduring relevance, noting that as long as people search, SEO will exist, and shares his own background in the field. Paid media follows, covering ad buying across Amazon, Pinterest, Facebook, Google, podcasts, and other properties. He recommends strong video editing skills for the explosion of video content. Data analysts are presented as storytellers who turn analytics from YouTube, Google, websites, and apps into actionable insights for agencies and brands. Email/SMS managers are described as retention‑focused marketers who craft concise messages across email and text. Finally, conversion rate optimization (CRO) specialists are explained through a simple example of doubling a site’s purchase rate, underscoring the perpetual business value of improving conversion. Siu concludes by inviting comments on missed roles, urging viewers to subscribe, and linking to related content.

Today, we're gonna talk about 8 hot marketing careers for 2022. My name is Eric Siu, and I have a portfolio of marketing companies, and I'm here to help level up the world. Number 1 is community manager. Community managers are roles that are going to really continue to take off. We're kind of seeing the advent of chief community officers now, and what does that really mean? So I spoke to a guy named David Spinks, and he is the VP of community at a company called Bevy, which is a community software company. You know, he founded a large community of Tony Hawk Pro Skater fans, he was 14 years old, and he really understands the ins and outs of it. And what community ultimately does is it fosters a level of intimacy with everyone and it causes retention, right? I believe community is really for retention, but you also have your community managers that are also kind of creating their own type of content. They're creating side events and they're really becoming evangelists for whatever it is that you do as a company. And so with the advent of NFTs right now, what's going on is that Community managers are a super important piece to promoting your NFTs and also managing that group, right? If you look at VeeFriends as an example of an NFT from Gary Vee and also the Founder's Key from Impact Theory, which is Tom Bilyeu's NFTs. So he's the founder of Quest Nutrition, billion-dollar brand. They have a lot of community managers. And even for our NFT project, Leveling Up Heroes, we have community managers for that one. Back in 2010, when people looked down on social media as a job, I believe people are kind of looking down or maybe sleeping on community managers as a role right now. But I believe they're going to be critical to the future of companies, not just from a marketing perspective, but again, a retention perspective. And also it goes much further than that, but I'm just trying to simplify it from a foundational standpoint right now. So community manager is huge, huge, huge. You can absolutely go to cmxhub.com to either post a community manager job or look for community managers. Again, I do think a chief community officer is going to become a thing. So number 2 is content creator. So content creator is a very loaded type of role, right? Because what it really means is you can be a content creator for TikTok, you can be a content creator for Instagram, you can be a content creator for YouTube, but it really means someone that specializes in one specific form of social media. It's really hard to find someone that's good across the board. If they're really good at TikTok, that means they're good at short form, which means they'll probably be good at YouTube Shorts, they'll be good at Snap Spotlights and all that. But they're really only good at that. But it's important because they understand how to go deep on these things, right? Because you want to post natively to these social platforms and the days of kind of repurposing and kind of half-assing it, for lack of a better word, across the board, that just doesn't work, right? And so we're always looking for community managers, by the way, you can go to singlegrain.com/careers on the agency side or whatever other things that we're doing. So we're always looking for content creators and community mentors. So number 3, SEO is not going anywhere. I mean, even Microsoft as a big company has said that SEO is going to continue to be a big role for the future because as long as human beings are searching for something, there's going to be SEO. So even though Google's way of doing SEO where it's like, oh, they're indexing links and then they're kind of deciding what to be placed higher, maybe the form of clicking on links, that type of stuff, and using the search bar to look for things, that might become more and more dated over time. And we might just be using voice search or we might be using— maybe we might be using our mind to search for things long-term. I think that's definitely going to happen. But just keep in mind, as long as human beings are looking for things, as long as they have questions, there will be search engines. As long as there are search engines, that's SEO. So that's not going to go anywhere. And I started my background in SEO and I started to kind of branch out into other areas, but I started out and I went deep on SEO before I started to branch out into other types of disciplines from a marketing perspective. The 4th role is paid media. So that can be running paid ads on Amazon. It could be running paid ads on Pinterest, on Facebook, on Google. There's a lot of these different platforms that you can run ads on, right? So it's really about figuring out which platforms make the most sense for whatever it is that you're trying to promote and then going all in on that. That could also include running podcast ads too. That can include just media buying on other properties, right? So that's always gonna be a thing. Now, number 5 would be around having a really great video editor. That's gonna do wonders for you or for teams from a marketing perspective. And so if you're looking to get into marketing and you happen to have video chops, maybe you can edit for some of the influencers out there that are looking to create content, right? More and more people are looking to create content out there. So keep that in mind. Now, number 6 is data analyst. There's a lot of analytics we can look at from a YouTube perspective, from a Google perspective, what's going on on our website, what's going on in our app. We want to be able to tell a story with the data and a data analyst is able to do that. So from a marketing perspective, a lot of teams are looking for the data analyst to be able to compile that data, tell that story. And if you're going to go work for an agency, people are always looking for really good reporting, right? So data analyst is super valuable. Number 7 now. So email marketing/SMS manager. So, Managing email, managing an SMS community. I believe a really good email marketer is going to know how to create concise text message marketing emails as well, right? Or text messages as well. So those are from a retention standpoint, from driving more sales. There's a lot that you can do with this type of stuff. And these roles are always going to be in demand. And number 8, CRO specialist. What does CRO mean? CRO means conversion rate optimization. So let's say you have 100 people that visit a website, an e-commerce website, and one person buys. The conversion rate is then 1%. If you're able to double that conversion rate to 2%, then that means for every 100 people that visit, then 2 people will buy, right? How valuable is that to a business? So that's always going to be in demand. As long as people are buying things, we're going to be trying to optimize rates. That's just how we are from, from a business perspective, right? From a— that's how business people think. That's how marketing people think. These are just 8 examples of hot marketing careers for 2022. Let me know what you think I missed in the comments below. Let me know what you think are roles that are going to take off very soon.
