This is a YouTube video titled "80M download podcast playbook" (published 2023-07-06) featuring a single speaker — an experienced podcaster — who shares tactics for growing a podcast audience. The speaker cites over 80 million lifetime downloads and recounts early low-download years, then gives actionable advice: collaborate/cross-promote with other podcasts, use email lists, leverage YouTube for discoverability, and differentiate your format (e.g., a daily co-hosted show like Marketing School).

My podcasts have gotten over 80 million lifetime downloads, but it wasn't always smooth sailing. Over the first 2 years, the first year I was only getting 9 downloads a day. The second year I was only getting 30 downloads a day, and it took a long time to figure things out. And here are the things that you need to do to get to the 80 million downloads. Number 1, do collaborations. And what I mean by that is when we traded with the My First Million podcast, we basically were trading impressions. So they would do a read for us, we would do a read for them, kind of cross-promoting, and that's one of the best ways to grow. Number 2, you can also use other people's email lists or use your email list as well and promote your podcast there. Number 3, think about discoverability through YouTube. Podcasts don't have great discoverability, but YouTube does. And the other thing is make sure that you're zigging where other people are zagging. If everyone's doing a podcast where it's a weekly interview podcast, do a daily podcast, maybe with a co-host, which is exactly what I do for Marketing School.
