AI is making engineering cheaper, so companies are hiring more engineers, not fewer. Legion hired an engineer named Matt and became so productive they're planning to expand. Job openings rose by 731,000 as firms compete to keep top talent.

But you're seeing more companies, or at least more marketing departments willing to invest in engineering products to get their brand out there, to get the backlinks, to get the brand mentions. And they wouldn't have been willing to do this 2, 3 years ago because the cost was ridiculously high compared to now. So you're seeing companies just willing to do a lot more. And another example of this is Legion, you know, the protein powder that I take and the protein bars you've tried. So I was talking to their CEO. He was telling me how Matt's a mutual friend of ours. I'm the one who actually introduced introduce him to him and he hired him. He's been there probably for like 8 to 10 years now. Matt runs his engineering. He's like, dude, our engineering guys get way more done. And he's like, people would say that we don't need any more engineers, but he's like, because it's so much more cost efficient, we've actually increased the number of projects and the output that we've been— we've increased the output as well. We're now, because it's so affordable, we're actually thinking about hiring a few more engineers And just exploding our product pipeline and just doing way more because it's so much more cost-effective and the economics make more sense now. You know what's funny?
Let me just go on a little tangent here. We'll come back to this. We hired a software engineer from Oracle, okay? And from based in India, okay? Because of that point, Neil, I think because this guy's so good, they did everything they could to retain this person, which is interesting to me because it's like, People are like, oh, we need to keep the really good engineers. And I think you're starting to see the counteroffers come out now, right? Yeah. So I'll just leave that one at that because we ended up coming to another arrangement with this guy. But I think we're going to need to hire more because of this point over here. So again, job openings soar by 731,000, which kind of changes the narrative that AI is actually creating new jobs, right?
