SEO isn't hard, it's just misunderstood. If you think it's just about keywords and backlinks, you're missing the bigger picture. SEO has evolved, and if you're stuck in the old ways, it's time to rethink your strategy. In this video, I'm going to break down how SEO has changed, and it's not just about Google anymore. I'm going to talk about the rise of search everywhere optimization, how to optimize for LLMs, AI overviews, and other non-Google search engines. And I'm going to show you strategies to stay ahead of the curve. So let's get into it. So SEO is no longer just about Google. It's about search everywhere optimization. It's covering a wide range of platforms and channels. So if I think back 15 years ago, Google was very much the only game in town when it came to organic. There was no LinkedIn, there was no Instagram, there was no Snap. Everyone was very focused on playing the SEO game. And to be frank, the SEO game was very simple. You create great content, great links, make sure that you're optimized and you're good to go and you have an avalanche of traffic coming through. This is how big businesses were built over time. But you can't do that anymore. Because the way it's working now is that traffic is decoupling. It kind of looks like an alligator with an open jaw. What that means is impressions are going up for your websites maybe, but website clicks are going down. Even though LLMs are a tiny fraction of search right now, that's going to continue to change over time. LLMs are just going to get stronger. That's why when you think about SEO, it has to be search everywhere optimization because the attention is so disparate and people are searching on Instagram, people are searching on Amazon. If you're doing YouTube, it's the second largest search engine in the world. Why would you not do it? Because Also, the LLMs do take a look at YouTube and AI overviews do have, they do cite YouTube pretty frequently. I'm not saying Google's not important, but you gotta think about it more holistically. Back in the day, the best SEOs, they knew how to play the game really, really, really well. And it was very much a red ocean there. Now, when we think about SEO, it's very much a blue ocean. It's not as competitive because it's harder now. It's, people don't like to play when it's hard. So the question is, how do you stay ahead of the game while everyone else is still stuck on traditional SEO? I'm going to show you. So when you think about large language models, the good news for these is that conversion rates are 2 to 6 times higher because when you're searching for something on LLMs, you're actually using multiple search queries and longer search queries too. And so I know when I'm talking to an LLM, I'm actually dictating out pretty frequently. So I might dictate out a message that takes 2 to 3 minutes or so. You're trying to optimize for more answering more long-tail queries. You're optimizing for citations, content freshness, brand sentiment, mentions are key too, right? And so When I think about optimizing for LLMs, again, they are looking at content freshness and that's a huge factor. And in fact, 95% of results from ChatGPT in the last 12 months are fresh content. What I mentioned earlier, the search everywhere optimization game, it is the game in town to play. And a lot more people now are asking for YouTube. A lot more people are now asking for Reddit, and we're going to see that trend continue to increase. And so people know that they need more positive brand mentions and they know that they should be appearing more on YouTube too. Because YouTube also builds more and more authority over time. Look, even with all these changes, how do you make sure you're getting found everywhere? Way you want to play this, marketing 101, is thinking about where your ideal client profiles, your ideal customer profiles are hanging out. If your best customers are hanging out on Reddit, okay, maybe you go for Reddit first. If your best customers are hanging out on Instagram and you happen to be good at video, okay, go for it. Number 2, what are you good at? Are you good at the written type of content? Are you good at short-form video? Are you good at long-form video? Then you start to aim for one channel, you want to nail it, then you scale it, then you can start to branch out into these other channels. Then you repeat this exercise. Each platform requires a different native strategy. And what I mean by that is in gaming, we like to call it the meta, right? The most optimized way of playing it for each channel. You need to think about, hey, what type of content tends to work really well on Instagram? So for Instagram short form or for TikToks or for YouTube Shorts, You got to think about the hook. You got to think about the story and then whatever your offer is at the end. Okay. So that's the native way of playing for that one. Now for YouTube long form, I need to think about, okay, what is my packaging? What is my headline? What is my thumbnail to get people to click? And then what is, what's going to be my hook for the initial video? And then my first 30-second retention. And then how do I get people to stay as long as possible? So there's a lot of different ways to play these games and you have to just really try to understand what the best possible way that the meta is for each channel. And sometimes you can hire contractors to work with. And so for example, right now we're working with someone who's really good at short form. And now we're talking to another person that might work with us. This person has worked with MrBeast with short form video. If you don't know how to play in the most optimized manner, just go find people who have been there, done that. You're gonna get better results doing that. Everyone's talking about AI right now, but people are struggling to prove the business ROI of AI. Now with Single Grain, which is my ad agency, that is not an issue because we try to stay at the forefront of AI. We leverage AI not only to make our team more efficient and faster, but to make your business more efficient. And the things that we do around marketing, it's still our bread and butter. But when we combine that with our AI prowess, that's what allows our clients to grow a lot faster. So if you're interested in learning more, if you're interested in acquiring customers faster, go to singlegrain.com. Again, singlegrain.com, and we'll see you on the other side. Look, so if I were to tie everything together, the most important thing here is adaptability. I've seen every time the algorithm changes, SEOs on Twitter are the most bitter people in the world. They blame the algorithm. You can complain. Google doesn't care. They're one of the biggest companies in the world. So what you can do is to think like an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are forced to adapt, right? Founders, entrepreneurs are forced to adapt. Think like an entrepreneur. The best SEOs are adaptable. They test new channels, they optimize for emerging trends, and they evolve as search algorithms change. And so that means for us, like my ad agency Single Grain, we have to think about, okay, if we're doing SEO for people now, yes, we're going to do traditional SEO. We're going to think about link building. We're still going to think about content. But how do we do Reddit? Okay, how do we hire community managers? How do we make sure that we're, we're building a community for people? Or on the YouTube side, okay, how do we get them to play the YouTube game? That's completely different. These are all different things that people need to think about, but they don't. And all you have to do is to go the extra mile. Most SEOs are such a letdown because they aren't willing to be adaptable. And that's okay. In this new world, it's not going to work out for them because in this new world, you have to adapt. 2 years ago, was I talking about Reddit or YouTube? No. Were we talking about LLMs that much? Not really. But it's changing. And if you are looking forward to the change, not only are you going to win when it comes to SEO, you're going to win personally and nobody can ever take that away from you. So that's it for this video. If you're ready to adapt and dominate across multiple channels, taking a search everywhere optimization approach, I would love to hear about how you plan on updating your strategy, what channel you plan on attacking first.
