Eric Siu pushes back on the idea that AI will eliminate jobs entirely. He points to history: agriculture gave way to industry, spreadsheets didn't destroy work but changed it. AI will likely let people do work they actually want instead.

There will come a point where no job is needed. You can have a job if you want to have a job for sort of personal satisfaction, but the AI will be able to do everything. So I don't know if that makes people comfortable or uncomfortable.
It's— So Elon here is saying that working will be optional and AI can do all the work. And here's what I fundamentally believe. I believe that our work gives us purpose. I believe that all humans will eventually find something to do. And when you look at the switching over from the agricultural age over to the industrial age, you had what, 92, 98% of people were farmers. And then you look at now today, it's like 1%, 2%, maybe even lower than that. And so there's a lot of job displacement there. You think about when the spreadsheet came out, a lot of these spreadsheet analysts, they lost their jobs, but it evolved into doing different type of work. And a lot of the jobs that we have open today are actually, they didn't exist in 1940 or even 1950. 1950 or so. So technology shifts things very quickly. I think humans are all going to find something to do. They might not like the jobs that they're in right now. I think AI is going to enable all of us to be working on things that we want to be working on. That's how this is going to play out.
