The DOJ wants Google to spin off Chrome, but a new administration in January could change that outcome. A reported call between Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Trump, and Elon Musk suggests Musk's alignment with Trump and censorship concerns could pressure Google on policy.
Talking about the DOJ pushing to spin Chrome off.
So the Department of Justice, they're saying Google's a monopoly.
There's a lot of antitrust stuff that's going on with Google.
They're saying, hey, we just want you to spin off Chrome. I do believe Google is going to push and just wait and see what happens when a new government takes over in January. Because if you look at the stock market in general, it's been ripping and the banking stocks believe it's going to be good for finance, it's going to be good for business. So I do believe next year you're going to have companies like Google that are gonna have a better shot of keeping what they have. I don't see Google being really split apart.
So Sundar got on a call with Trump, and then who else was on the call?
Who?
Elon Musk. No. And so I think Elon was saying, hey, there's— because there's like censorship and stuff like that makes Google look bad. And I think there's gonna be some pressure at least, especially now that Elon is so close to Trump. He's gonna get his way quite a bit.
