Eric Siu argues that Google News shows political bias and compares how media control works in Russia, China, and the US. He suggests building independent media outlets so people can think for themselves instead of relying on algorithmically filtered news.
Google's news shows political bias. Like, it makes a lot of sense. Whoever controls the media companies, they've always tried to lean in a certain direction, right? People want to control information flow. When you think about Russia or China or United States, yeah, we even have our own propaganda too in the United States, right? So it just goes back all the way back to marketing. It's like, okay, well, yeah, you should create your own media, you should create your own properties, and you should be able to disseminate your own information and then hopefully help people think on their own and make their own decisions. That's what matters at the end of the day, right?
