Steve Jobs says at Apple, we hire people that are smarter than us, not to tell them what to do, but for them to tell us what to do. I'm paraphrasing here. And so what I learned from that is not necessarily that I won't hire CEOs and GMs anymore. It's one that I would do a lot more due diligence and not have rose-colored glasses there and look for someone that's been there, done that, and hardcore reference check and take my time looking for that person.
