How the iPad Pro Can Save You 22 Hours Per Week (With Examples!)

Eric Siu switched to iPad Pro as his main work device and reclaimed 22 hours per week. He uses Notion for task management and credits the iPad's limited multitasking for forcing focus on delegation. A time audit showed his deep thinking time jumped from 4% to 24% over several months.

In this clip, we're gonna talk about how I save 22 hours a week using the iPad Pro. Probably more than that. Probably, probably more than that. But before we continue, if you're coming from YouTube, hit the subscribe and the bell button, the bell button, hit the bell button. And also, whatever channel you're coming from, don't forget to subscribe as well, 'cause this stuff all helps you grow at the end of the day. I have talked about the iPad Pro in the past. I love it. I used to hate it in the beginning. So let me tell you the story behind it. So we were in Mexico going to a mastermind, my buddy Yaniv and I, and Hanif pulls out this iPad Pro. He's like, bro, you've gotta get one of these, it's amazing. So he starts going on the internet. I'm like, that is just a bunch of baloney. Why, why, why, why, why use an iPad Pro when you could do so much more with a computer? So what I was missing there was I was missing the point. Point being that the iPad Pro actually helps you save a lot of time. So let's take a look at my screen right now and I'll tell you, I'll show you exactly what's going on here. So looking at my screen, I'm actually recording this on an iPad Pro right now, by the way. I had my assistant do an audit of how I spent my time in the last couple of months. And that's when I started to use my iPad Pro more. And so check this out. First things first, I use a tool called Notion. So what I like about Notion is it is my all-in-one to-do. I can do a lot of things quickly. So with Notion right here, this is my daily to-do list over here. And also I have action items from, I can pull up action items from, you know, the retreat that I did last week. Also I can also share with other people. So you can see, um, you know, we have like a, we can make like an internal wiki. For Single Grain, which is one of the, one of the companies that I have. So you can see here, I can see like, okay, you know, mission, vision, values. There's templates I can pull immediately so I can make documents a lot faster. Um, I also have a look at my, um, you know, I can look at my, my big projects over here. Um, you can see key hires that we're trying to make. You know, there's like even planning my friend's bachelor party. There's a mastermind that I did, but it's all a bunch that are in here, you know, podcast stuff, mastermind stuff. It's all in here. And the cool thing too is I can, you know, I can, you know, I can add comments in here. I can make a Kanban board. I can add icons in here. It's just very, very interactive. I can change the icons, I can add background, and then I can share this with other people on my team. And it's just very fast. It's very flexible. Um, so you can see here I can basically live in Notion for an entire day and that saves me a lot of time. Now the other thing too is the iPad Pro prevents me from doing other work. So on a computer, usually what will happen is I might start doing video editing. I might start saying, oh, you know, what, I need to unzip a file. I might start doing the actual work, God forbid. Okay, so in a lot of cases, um, the iPad restricts me from doing that work and it only has me focusing on the things that I can do, which is where I'm communicating with people. So you can see here I'm talking with my assistant here. We're having communication and I'm delegating things. We're able to move a lot faster that way. So for those of you that are saying, okay, I don't have the luxury of being able to delegate, still hopping into something and saying, You know what, I am just going to focus on writing. I am just going to focus on communicating with people. I'm just going to focus on, you know, a very certain thing versus saying I'm going to try to do all these other things. Because what ends up happening is on a real computer on a desktop, well guess what, you can start to open all these other tabs, right? This kind of restricts you from opening a bunch of tabs and moving around very quickly. Um, you, it is pretty flexible, but it, it forces you to basically say, you know what, you're only going to work on the most important things and that's going to save you a lot of time. So basically what happened here was I had my assistant do a time audit too of, of how I spend my time. So I'm just looking at my time over a, let's say a 4-month period. And you can see over time as I start to use my iPad Pro more, um, you know, my time spent on a lot of things is actually starting to decrease. So check this out. If we look over here where I'm clicking on deep thought, so this is the percentage of my time spent on deep thought and focus. So deep thought is where I'm just strategizing and like focusing in and thinking about the future, strategizing. So you can see here in May I had 4% of my time was actually spent on deep, deep thought. Okay. In June it was 3% and July it was 12%. In August it was 24%. So 24% of my time is spent on deep thought, spending on strategy. And I can tell you it's been a huge boon to be able to say, okay, I'm just going to focus on the big things that matter, big picture stuff. And from there we're able to get bigger things done, higher impact things done. Because I'm not getting bogged down by all the minutia. Because what happens is when I use a MacBook or when I'm using my iMac, I start watching a bunch of videos, I start doing a bunch of different things. It's very easy for me to multitask. So the iPad Pro takes that away. The battery life on it is amazing. Let's say I want to watch videos on it. I'm just going to focus on video. I'm not going to try to do all these other things because it takes that away. So the focus, that level of focus is very valuable, especially in a day and age that we're in where we're getting notifications all the time. We're getting bombarded all the time, that's very important, which is why the iPad Pro, in fact, look at this increase, it's like a 6x increase in my deep thought and focus, that's huge. And for the other areas where I wanted to take down my time a little bit, so like this one over here where it says miscellaneous SG, Single Grain, that's the agency that I have, I'm trying to say, okay, let's decrease the time a little bit there, let's have the people that are really smart do what's necessary, they know how to make the right decisions, they will take care of things while I focus on the long-term vision and focus on getting the right people in place for, for the long term. And this is another thing that I recommend, like charting your time. If you don't measure your time, you're not going to know ultimately if you're getting better or not. So you can use a tool like RescueTime. You can chart your time manually like this, literally go through your calendar and see how you can chart your time. Using Notion speeds things up quite a bit. Also, we have Asana in here. So Asana is where we kind of manage all our tasks, all our projects. That makes things easy because everything that other people are doing, we're dropping it into Asana. That's our, that's our one point of Um, this is the one area that we're going to go to to manage, um, manage how we do things, how we get things done. Also, I use a tool over here called Notability, and Notability is great too because you can see here, um, the mastermind that I did last week. Well, guess what? I am able to basically say, okay, within my mastermind I can say, okay, here's all my notes. I can draw with my Apple Pencil or I can type too, or I can draw and then convert it to text. That makes things a lot faster. I can also dictate into it too. Um, it's just very fast. It's very smooth. I can tell you working on this thing, thing too. I can work on this machine. I've worked an entire day on this machine doing watching videos, communicating with people, doing video chats all day on this thing. Whereas a MacBook will die very quickly, probably in a couple hours or so. This will last. This will stand the test of time. It's a very powerful. It's a very powerful machine. I'll use it for when I'm reading on like a flight. Again, I'm focused. If I watch a video, I'm very focused on that video too. It stops me from multitasking. If I want to write on this thing, I can write on this thing. If I want to collaborate with people, I can collaborate with people too. If I want to delegate things, I can delegate as well. So it's just a thing that helps me gain a lot of leverage and that's how I ultimately save more time because I am basically saying, okay, I'm focusing on things. I'm also delegating out. I'm using the right apps that make me a lot faster and also the machine I'm using is a lot faster as well. So these are just a couple of tips that I have around the iPad Pro. It works like a charm. They're continually adding to it, you know, new, new operating systems, new features all the time. I think it's here to stay and I think it's a very, very powerful laptop. That's the way I see it, that forces you to focus. All right, so I wanna go a little deeper on this topic, so check this out. In this video, I'm gonna give you 3 productivity apps to give you a massive advantage in 2018. So the very first one is Moment, and this is what I have on iOS. Moment allows you to see how much time you're spending on your phone. When I look at my phone, if I can spend less than 2 hours a day, that's a win. I looked at it recently and, you know, I'm averaging kind of 3 to 4 hours a day. That's a lot of time spent on the phone, right? Between the time you spend on the phone and the time you spend on the computer as well and the time you spend on Netflix. It's really important to audit your time. There's probably other apps like that for Android as well, but that's what I use on iOS. It also gives you the ability to show you how much time you're spending on different apps. You can set that up as well. Number 2 is RescueTime. This is like Moment, but for my computer. I can see how much time I've logged on the computer, how much time I'm spending on specific apps, and how productive I was based on the criteria that I set. So RescueTime, I've been using it for years and years. It's great. You can have a free version as well. Just to audit kind of what you're doing. Are you spending too much time on Facebook? Should you be disabling Facebook? That way you can be as efficient as possible. And it's important to have fun from time to time, but it's good to look at your productivity score and just how much time you're spending on the computer. I spend a lot of time working because I enjoy working, but for you, maybe you want to limit your time to maybe 40 hours a week. You kind of get to define what apps or what websites make you productive or not productive. The third and final one is Gyroscope. This is on my phone. It syncs up with my Apple Health. I can see how many steps I'm taking, but I can also look at other people as well and look at how they're doing, right? I can look at where I'm spending most of my time, where I'm traveling. It shows you kind of, you know, data around that. It's just a richer version of showing me how I'm stacking up against my friends because I'm competitive. I want to see, you know, at least I'm, you know, the top of the pack, which will kind of motivate me to work Even harder, it syncs up with different apps too. It syncs up the rescue time as well. So that way you kind of have a suite of things you can look at to show how productive you are and you know changes that you need to take. If you don't measure it, you're not going to be able to kind of figure out where you want to go next. So you have to be able to measure things. I like looking at this. I mean, everything's so rich nowadays with data, right? Your phone is basically a walking GPS. People can see where you're at all the time. You can show how many steps you're taking, just how much time you're spending on different things. So you have to make sure. Maybe you know daily, weekly, monthly, whatever it is. You're auditing your time so you can get a massive advantage because most people don't look at this stuff and you have to do what most people aren't willing to do. So let me know what you think I missed in this this video and don't forget to check out the next video over there if you're coming from YouTube again. Let me know in the comments like what did I miss exactly? And don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe if you think this was if you like well if you like clips like this and we'll see you tomorrow.
