Eric Siu argues that the best bosses treat employees like family: genuinely care about their lives, support them through personal struggles, celebrate their wins, and help them find better jobs if that's what they need to succeed.

When you hire people, if you want them to work out, truly care for them. I look at like employees as like family members, literally like family members. When they have personal problems, I'm there to help them. When things are going great, I'm there to cheer them on. When they're not happy with the work, I'm actually there to help them find a better job at another company that is a better fit. I really care for the individual and I want them to succeed. If you truly care for people, I believe they'll work their tails off for you and they'll literally kill themselves to make the business successful. And don't care for them just because you want them to make money, but care for them because you genuinely care for them as human beings and you just want them to do better in life.
