Today we are going to talk about how to grow on LinkedIn the right way in 2020. So LinkedIn is amazing because the organic reach is super strong right now. It reminds me of the old days of any social network where when you post something you can get a lot of reach from it. That's what LinkedIn is right now. I can post something organically and if it does well, I might get up to a couple hundred thousand views on it, right? Uh, depending on how big my, my, my audience size is. When I think about LinkedIn, the easiest thing you can do is you can write something that is very practical and you break it out in spaces, right? So, You can be like, you know, these are the top 5 tips for SDRs or for SaaS companies or for designers, um, the top marketing trends or whatever. And then you break it down into 5 things and you can also ask in the comments. Um, you can just say, hey, leave a comment if you feel like I'm missing something or if you have thoughts on, if you agree or disagree to get people to engage in the comments, right? If you're writing something, ideally what you can do is you can get a couple of friends and I have a lot of friends that text me all the time and they send me the LinkedIn link and then I'll just like it and I'll leave a comment. The little initial boost, it helps a lot, right? If you have a team, get your team, maybe a couple of team members to help with that, that helps. Now if you're starting out, write something really good. That kind of goes without saying, but in your post you can, you can add a couple of tags, maybe add 3 or 4 tags or so. That'd be good. Or if you're mentioning people, that works out well too because in the past I've actually mentioned people. I've tagged those people like an author and they actually come in and start engaging, right? And you start building a relationship that way because what you're looking to do with LinkedIn is you're trying to not only build an audience, but you're looking to get those touchpoints with people, right? Maybe you can convert that into, a relationship, an online relationship, and then make it an offline relationship and maybe potentially it can lead to something down the road. Who knows? But your first thing that you're focused on is, is giving value. And, um, LinkedIn's organic reach is really good for that right now. So you can obviously write something, you can tag, you can tag the right people in it, you can get the initial engagement. And when people are leaving comments, it kind of goes without saying, but people don't do this right now. Like even when I look at some of the work that, that, um, you know, when we post to social media, Um, we're not necessarily responding to comments in a timely manner, but when, when we do, the reach goes up quite a bit because you're engaging with people and they're engaging back and then people, more and more views are going on it. So it's a good cycle that's kind of repeating itself, right? Also keep in mind if everybody else is writing, like how can you differentiate yourself? The good thing about LinkedIn is you can actually upload PDFs on there. So we do a lot of carousels on Instagram. You can take those carousels and then upload them to LinkedIn or maybe you have a SlideShare, right? Or you have a PDF deck, just upload the deck and be like, here are the latest trends I think are happening in my industry, and just list them out as well. So, here are the latest trends, you know, 1 through 7, here's a carousel on the bottom as well, feel free to share it with people, and then people will share it. And I find that when I've taken a post and I put the carousel in there, the reach has increased by over 5 times, and that's really powerful. Also think about how you can put a video in there, 'cause video does well, and think about if you're gonna do a video, put the captions in there, 'cause most of the time it's not gonna autoplay on audio, but people can actually read it as they're scrolling through and they can choose to save it. They can choose to follow you later, but you want to constantly bring value, try different formats, and if you can apply for LinkedIn Live, go live, live. Whenever we go live, let's, let's say I am recording a live podcast for Marketing School, which is a podcast that one of the podcasts that I do. If we go live, we're basically, we're not only recording for the podcast, uh, we're recording for the video. It goes live too. So we're, we're kind of, almost triple dipping here because we're doing video, we're doing a podcast, and it's going live to my LinkedIn audience and people are engaging and we're actually answering people's questions as we do it. And that goes a long way to fostering a really strong community. If you're looking to post a link inside of LinkedIn, put it in your first comment. Don't put it in the actual post because that's going to decrease your reach by a lot. Again, reach is the name of the game right now. And I would say kind of what I, what I've talked about with the live, you want to go omnichannel. So with Instagram, we carry it over to LinkedIn. When we do a video podcast, we're going to go live sometimes on LinkedIn as well. We're going to try to go live on other channels. We're going to go live on, on, on YouTube too. So we're gonna try to maximize as much reach as possible because what we're trying to do is we're trying to get as many people, as many eyeballs to find out who we are, to know who we are. We're trying to build that brand. Uh, at the end of the day, these are just a couple of ways to grow the right way on LinkedIn. These are ways that we've actually tested ourselves and they work. Um, fairly well. So let me know in the comments, let me know what you think I missed in terms of LinkedIn or if you have any questions on LinkedIn. And if you're coming from YouTube, don't forget to check out the next video over there and don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe. And if you're coming from YouTube, hit the bell button, uh, cause it helps us grow, helps you grow too. And we'll see you tomorrow.
